A hospital in upstate New York said it will stop delivering babies for a while later this month after several staff members quit over a COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

Good timing, with those enhanced unemployment benefits expiring. New York is a very progressive state. If these believers in Trump and Fax News think they can get on at Fort Drum, nearby universities or hospitals in Syracuse they will soon learn of their mistake. On the upside, the nearby Walmart stores will start paying $15/ hour in a year or so. Being unemployed during a cold Upstate New York winter is not a good look, and hard to explain in a job interview ...

good. quit. Morons shouldn't be around babies and sick people.

Good news for the midwives. Babies pretty much come out when they want regardless of hospital mandates.

If these people want to die from a preventable disease they're too stupid to be working in a hospital.

"Screw health care. How bout some legislation making smug truculent ignorance a crime? I know. We'd need prisons the size of Montana."

We will lose 15-20% of our RN work force. They will not be able to find similar employment anywhere. Minnesota is a blue state but areas are bright red; and we are in one of them.

If they quit they won't be eligible for unemployment.

For those who don't know, you can't draw unemployment in the US without having been employed in the previous 12 months, and find yourself unemployed for no reason of your own

They should quit, if they don't they should be fired and replaced with some grateful Dominicans

This hospital is in a very red county in NY State, and prior to the NY mandate it was the lowest vaccinated county in NY State.

They are potentially going to pause deliveries, but keep the maternity ward open. I'd bet that means no more c-sections or induced labor unless medically required.

If you're a health care worker in a maternity ward and you aren't vaccinated, get the hell out of that job. You've shown yourself to be unconcerned with the health of the mothers and the newborns.

The vaccine has been around for a while now, health care workers were some of the first to get vaccinated, and we have over 5 billion people on the planet that have had at least one shot. The FDA has approved Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty vaccine. There is no excuse not to be vaccinated now.

"all current health care workers have at least the measles, mumps and rubella combination vaccine and the Hepatitis-B vaccine as mandated for all health care workers" so no excuses about "vaccines."

"People who are resigning to avoid vaccination or are terminated because they refuse to be vaccinated will not be eligible for unemployment payments and anyone not giving two weeks notice, as required under their employment agreements, will not receive "accrued benefits" Mr. Cayer said, like paid vacation days."

Good.

If you work in health care, and you don't get vaccinated, you need to find another line of work.

It's not really any different than if you work in health care, and you don't wash your hands, you need to find another line of work.

Republican brainwashing is so effective that there is no amount of self-harm they won't do in order to show that liberals can't tell them what to do? Roast their own planet? Absolutely. Infect their own kids with a potentially lethal disease? No problem. Give up your retirement savings? Sign me up. All that matters is their fealty to trump's lies and propaganda.

If the health code for restaurant is, and the policy is to wash your hands thoroughly after using the restroom, and some employees that handle food refused, should they be asked to comply or take a hike? What are they doing even working there if they refuse and stomp their feet? F**k that nonsense!

We have a worker shortage. Let's exacerbate it with an unnecessary mandate. If people can't get healthcare as a result. Too bad. Don't get sick. " Biden

Hmm, you can't be employed with a hospital system in Virginia without being vaccinated for a number viruses, it's been that way for two decades
Even IT has to, even though they never interact with patients

If you decline the yearly flue shot, you have to be masked when in the office. If you are offered employment, it's mandatory you be tested for TB and show proof of required vaccinations

Again, it's been like this for over 20 years. It's nothing new

OWS created a separate demographic of skeptics, thinking the vaccine was developed TOO quickly, even in the face of FDA recently approving it. Most skeptics that I've encountered or read about have expressed the lack of academic research focusing on the long-term effects of the vaccine have not been completed. They conveniently ignore the fact that we don't know the long-term effects of infection, either.

The irony of this specific group requiring academic journalism as a factor within their decision making is truly ironic.

It's so hard to keep up with Trumpers these days.

They want Trump recognized for quickly developing the vaccine and establishing operation warp speed.

But they don't want the vaccines because who knows what's in them and Trump said COVID isn't as dangerous as the flu.

Also they're angry at Biden and Democrats for insisting people get vaccinated and mandating the vaccine.

The same vaccine they want Trump to get the credit for single handedly creating.

Yeah operation warp speed was 3 words: "Make a vaccine!"

As if no other president would think to do that.

But any other president would have made a distribution plan, unlike trump.

And every other president would have spent months convincing the public to take the vaccine, instead of spending months convincing the public to mistrust the CDC, FDA, and electoral system.
