Jonathan Bernstein, Bloomberg: The more GOP leaders pretend that voting results are rigged frauds, the more everyone in the party will believe it and the more U.S. democracy will suffer.

Republicans Have Declared War Against Honest Elections

Can't read it because I'm not paying to get by Bloomberg's paywall.

It's interesting that anyone who has been paying attention has already known this for months. While many so called "experts" and journalists seem to just be catching up.

They're all a bunch of cheating bastards is why.

This is why the GQP has taken its authoritarian turn because they can no longer win major free and fair elections without cheating, gerrymandering, and voter suppression. They somehow can't understand why their insane policies and candidates keep getting rejected by sane people, but demographics have changed more quickly than they realized, we have a younger generation that is far more diverse and more politically involved than ever before and they are very liberal. So because the GQP doesn't really care about governing, as proven by the massive number (snark) of legislative successes in the Drumpf Error, but they do want to hold power, the power to tell you what you can and cannot do with your body, who you can and cannot love and marry, and who can and cannot vote in spite of what it says in the constitution. They are suckering the Talibaptists into thinking the GQP wants a theocracy, but nationally that's not true, they want issues that will allow them to bleed the religious Reich dry, but all they want is power, the power to cut taxes on the rich, to force women to give birth but offer them no support for the children they force into the world, and to ensure that xtian white males continue their supremacy in order to make the rules for everybody else.

And they can't win an honest election anymore so none of them elections they lose are honest anymore. Unless it turns out they somehow manage to win. Then that particular election is "honest". See Bush v Gore.

"They're all a bunch of cheating bastards is why."

So sad but, infortunately, so true.

"The dangerous Republican decision to portray more and more elections as inherently fraudulent, described in detail by Greg Sargent in an important Washington Post column last week (and see here too), is a mostly a new development inspired by former President Donald Trump."

It's as if Liberals just have lost all ability to read anymore. Not sure if this is because they believe teaching reading is racist now or whatever so they refuse to do it, but considering there is evidence easily available at everyone's fingertips that proves the Dem party has called every election they have lost fraudulent in the last 3 decades (at least), this is just more Trump derangement syndrome where Dems can't accept reality so they make up their own. Both parties do it which is easily proven, yet Dems are so threatened and scared of Trump that they have to believe that he started all of the evils in this country.

Now that California is proven to be racist, I'm sure the next thing Dems will say is Reps are the ones who fought to keep slavery legal. It's no coincidence that the party who is trying to rewrite history is also the one trying to get rid of proof they are wrong.

The desperation is a sure sign of right wing awareness of the current demographic trajectory of the United States.

Yep the party that cries foul and is against easy voting turns out to be the biggest bunch of whiners and snowflakes in the land...

Get behind in an election? Cry foul and claim the other side cheats...

Lose an election? Whine like a snowflake and claim shenanigans...

Have a sitting member of the opposite party elected in a fair election? Immediately beat the drum for a recall election...

Nothing spells 'Loser' like a party to
immature to taste defeat.

#9 does that apply to people like Stacey Abraham's or the Scott Walker recall effort?

This strategy is very third world.

I couldn't find this evidence.

Closest I found was this: "On Jan. 6, right after the deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, 147 Republican lawmakers voted the way then-president Donald Trump and the rioters had demanded - to overturn his election loss, after months of Trump's baseless claims that the election had been stolen."

Claiming fraud is so chic, don't you know? Since Reagan, the loser of every presidential election has claimed fraud. But the winner never does.

How odd. *snark off*

My attitude on fraudulent elections is:

Fool me once, shame on you
Fool me twice, shame on me.
