" If You've Purchased Chicken in the Past Decade, You May Be Eligible for a Class Action Settlement"

IF?!?

Oh, FFS, just send everyone in America a check for 55 cents, and be done with it.

Oh great, I have the potential windfall of $1.99. 300 million people buy chicken all the time so this settlement ain't going to make anyone rich, well, except for the attorneys who brought the suit.

8 billion chickens consumed by Americans a year. About 2lbs of meat per chicken so over a decade 160 billion pounds of chicken gives us about .11 cent per pound of chicken.

BTW Dan with the number of Americans that puts the average at 50lbs a year over 10 years nails right at 55 cents per American so not sure where you got your 55 cents number but almost dead on the average. Of course that's not counting the lawyers fees.

If the plaintiffs get 55 cents, so should the lawyers. It would stop stupid lawsuits like this.

The lawsuit was started on a wing and a prayer. More lawyers feathering their beds, no doubt. Cluck 'em all.

I imagine 'we' could energize the chicken buying community to maximize participation in the 'pay out' to (1) see how small a check everyone would get ($.01?), and (2) maximize the administrative costs of the payout so that it would actually become expensive, although I have no idea who would get stuck for the admin costs of preparing the checks and distributing them.

I rarely eat chicken anymore... gives me the creeps these days. The texture isn't right and they are all too fat.
