"health care rationing"

If you have a vaccination card (or a medical exemption letter signed by an MD) you can get care.

If you don't, you can't.

Anyone have a problem with this approach to rationing?

Rationing? Call it what it is, system collapse.

Idaho has long been a popular destination for survivalist wackos, and I have to believe a 3-way Venn diagram of this cohort, Trumpists and anti-vaxxers is mighty close to concentric circles.

I wonder if all the -------- in Oregon and Washington are still trying to make their "Greater Idaho" pipe dream come true after seeing this.

Probably are...

The greater Idaho promoters are probably now braying that the virus only kills weak people or that there is a miracle cure out there.

Idaho has 40.36% of their population vaccinated. So this is the expected result. Why am I not surprised?

Can we tell everybody in Idaho who refuses to get vaccinated that they're not welcome to go to hospitals in Oregon Washington or Canada?

The effort to elect Ammon Bundy as Idaho governor might have been set back by this development. I'll wager that in a year no potato heads will want to be reminded of the scourge Covid brought them, and no one will want to support a man so fervently opposing the vaccine and mask mandates, which resulted in that scourge...

Ada [County, Idaho] commissioners won't keep Dr. Epperly, who favored COVID measures, on health board
idahocapitalsun.com

...Ada County Commissioners have decided not to renew the appointment of Dr. Ted Epperly to the Central District Health board.

"After 15 years of service to Central District Health, I was sent an e-mail saying ... 'Thank You For Your Service.' An incredible example of politics becoming more important than public health knowledge and expertise," Epperly told the Idaho Capital Sun via text message.

His term was set to end in 2021.

"I know what I had to say and did helped a lot of people and for that I am truly proud," Epperly told the Sun....

Dr Epperly was recommending the people in his district get vaccinated and wear masks, following CDC guidelines, so he was removed by the Republicans.

Dr Epperly was replaced by...

How a rogue doctor who called the vaccine 'needle rape' was made an Idaho public-health official in its worst COVID crisis yet
www.businessinsider.com

...
- A doctor who called the COVID-19 vaccine "needle rape" made it to one of Idaho's top health boards.

- Dr Ryan Cole, a pathologist with no public health experience, was championed by the GOP.

- His victory came as Idaho was overrun with severe COVID-19 cases, its lowest ebb in the pandemic.

"There's really statistically no efficacy in masks," Dr. Ryan Cole said airily, and incorrectly, on an August 26
Zoom call with Peace Valley Charter School, which was deciding what measures to implement when lessons restarted....

So it appears that the Republicans in Idaho actively went out of their way to throw the state's medical system into a crisis where the system will be letting people die because the resources to treat them are lacking.
