Jennifer Griffin, Brooke Singman, (Fox News): The calls that Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley had with his Chinese counterpart "were not secret," U.S. officials told Fox News, maintaining that they were coordinated with multiple high level officials within the Pentagon.

Fox News spoke with multiple individuals who were in the room during the two calls, which took place over video teleconference, not the phone. Officials said the calls were coordinated with the Defense secretary's office.

Spokesman for Milley, Col. Dave Butler, said in a statement Wednesday that "the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs regularly communicates with Chiefs of Defense across the world, including with China and Russia."

"These conversations remain vital to improving mutual understanding of U.S. national security interests, reducing tensions, providing clarity and avoiding unintended consequences or conflict," Butler said. "His calls with the Chinese and others in October and January were in keeping with these duties and responsibilities conveying reassurance in order to maintain strategic stability."

Butler added: "All calls from the Chairman to his counterparts, including those reported, are staffed, coordinated and communicated with the Department of Defense and the interagency."

Milley, in keeping with his responsibilities as senior military advisor to the President and Secretary of Defense, "frequently conducts meetings with uniformed leaders across the Services to ensure all leaders are aware of current issues," Butler said.

Now, can we please talk about Trump's sociopathic and unconstitutional actions that precipitated these calls in the first place and come to an agreement that Trump should be criminally tried for inciting his mob to commit over 1000 assaults against police officers?

So basically you are saying this guy can go against the orders of a duly elected President or his superiors according to his political affiliation? That's good to know.

Milley, in keeping with his responsibilities as senior military advisor to the President and Secretary of Defense

So if he doesnt agree with a policy his superiors have, he can just go rouge? That's good to know as well. Be careful what you wish for here liberals, this can be a very slippery slope that can go bad VERY quickly.

"duly elected President"

There's other kinds?

You mean like a VP who becomes President when his boss resigns, or is recalled via the Second Amendment?

Why make the distinction...

"go against the orders"

What orders were given? Be specific.

And if the orders are unconstitutional, yes he can ignore them,

I've never met a more childish moron in my life, I swear.

Your inability to see cause and effect is disturbing.

Try reading the details again. Milley followed the orders given him by SecDef Esper:

Fox News spoke with multiple individuals who were in the room during the two calls, which took place over video teleconference, not the phone. Officials said the calls were coordinated with the Defense secretary's office.

What exact policy did Milley disagree with Boaz? What orders did he countermand? He followed orders, he didn't violate them.

A former senior defense official told CNN that the Chinese were unusually concerned about the rhetoric coming out of Washington in the days before the election, and the public rhetoric on the Chinese side was escalating as a result. [Sec Def] Esper tasked his top policy official with getting a backchannel message to Beijing to reassure the Chinese, which was done before Milley's call, the former official said.

"It was a two-step process led by the SecDef and DoD civilians," the official said. "That's an important distinction. The purpose was to avoid any unnecessary confrontation that could lead to conflict."

Milley conducted the October 30 call in consultation with then-Defense Secretary Mark Esper.

"duly elected President"

Who was then duly impeached. Twice.

So obviously he was not a very good "duly elected President".

In fact, he was horrible. And we still are not sure how much the Russians influenced that particular election. We are so lucky to have dodged that bullet. No wonder deplorables hate democracy. It corrected itself. Even though we will be paying the price for his presidency for decades at least he is out of power now so that now so that we can fix his disasters and he can be charged and prosecuted for his crimes against the people and the nation.

It was what you and Humpy would call a "perfect call". LOL

Enjoy your whine.

Making plans to countermand orders "just in case" isn't quite following orders lol.

Still the funniest thing about it... potentially committed treason for nothing. No order ever came.

Not a big believer in "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance?'

I believe you. But I'm a little surprised.

So there was no treason.

Since as You say, no order was ever given.

What a Perfect Call!

And it was not secret and we have all the transcripts.

Unlike Trumpy's "secret" Perfect Call to Ukraine.

Did Trumpy even release the full transcripts of The Perfect Call yet?

But I am pleased that Trumptilians are outraged.

It makes me happy that they are so unhappy.

Isn't that the way it is supposed to be?
