Pointing out that there is an average of 8,000 new infections each day, with occasional peaks over 10,000, he said, "That is a record that did not exist in the previous waves," including the massive third wave at the end of last year.

Maybe wearing a mask even if you're vaccinated is a good idea.

We know that delta can still infect vaccinated individuals but that vaccination, especially mRNA vaccination, significantly reduces symptomatic disease or hospitalization.

Critical line in the article:

Ash noted the number of seriously ill ranges between 670 and 700. Every day 70-80 new patients fall seriously ill, slightly fewer than in recent weeks.

Infections are up but deaths aren't peaking at the same level as the previous wave.

Seems the vaccines are working.

imo, it is a good idea.

Around here, masks are mandatory, even for vaccinated people, in stores and most other indoor places.

That is why I tend to watch the hospitalization rate more than the positivity rate here in CT.

If vaccinated, you can still get COVID, but the likelihood of getting severe COVID is greatly reduced if you are vaccinated.

Here in CT, positivity rate is around 3% (after peaking a bit above 4% when the delta variant first hit us). Number of people in the hospital is around 300, after peaking around 400 when the delta variant was more pronounced.

However, I suspect those numbers will be rising soon because I am seeing a lot of parents refusing to provide their kids with masks for school. That does not bode well, especially with the holiday season on the horizon.

Here in Florida, where we all know COVID ***HOLES are next to me that won't wear masks. I just don't see how anyone thinks that is fair or intelligent. I swear I don't like myself for hoping that DeathSantis's own family is visited by COVID.
