Mississippi doesn't just have the most deaths in the U.S., but one of the highest fatality rates in the world. If Mississippi were a country, it would follow only Peru (612 per 100,000), Hungary (308) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (307) in terms of per capita deaths from Covid-19.
