Senator Joe Manchin is already a crucial swing vote in the Democrats' sweeping budget bill. But he will also write the details of its climate change program.

That is what insanity looks like. I am a Democrat but Joe Manchin isn't. I despise him.

So much for all of those young voters who turned out for Democrats on the issue of climate change.

If the pandemic has taught us one thing it's that as a society we can't respond to real threats. With people dead all around them a near majority will not do anything about the pandemic. How can we expect these people to care about climate change?

Joe Manchin provides a pretty decent window for viewing the "What's the Matter with US Politics" landscape.

---- Hate Machin...

He is the very definition of a
'Political Tool'. If the Dems
look to lose the Senate in the
mid-terms, as seems increasingly
likely, they should CUT this GOP
in Sheep's Clothing loose!

I agree. It will probably result in a red seat. But the Dems should just primary Manchin and be done with him. He obviously has no interest in acting in the best interest of all of the American people. A real progressive should take him on in 2024.

I disagree.

I think Sen Manchin is a good example of how Congress should try to work.

I've become tired of the Congressional extremes enacting one viewpoint during one term, only to have it reneged the next term with other stuff enacted that is reneged the following term.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

You do not move forward by treading water.

We have to get out of the "what's best for my party" stuff and get back into the "what's best for the Country" stuff.

Sen Manchin happens to be a focal point of late only because the Democrats blew the 2020 Congressional elections, big time. Sen Manchin is an easy target for criticism. But the easy targets for criticism are seldom the correct ones.

Based upon the Democrat's messaging, I'm surprised the Democrats didn't lose control of Congress altogether. But then there's still 2022...

Dems are what R's used to be- center-right. We all know what the R's are now.

How does anything Manchin is doing represent "what's best for the Country"? If Joe Manchin doesn't find some way to agree with most Democrats, and ensure that America has free, fair and open elections, then over the next four years our representative Republic will be lost for good. At present, Joe Manchin is making all the moves that will ensure single Party, Republican rule in America forever.
