COVID-19 has now killed about as many Americans as the 1918-19 Spanish flu pandemic did -- approximately 675,000.

...Instead, scientists hope the virus that causes COVID-19 becomes a mild seasonal bug as human immunity strengthens through vaccination and repeated infection. That would take time.

"We hope it will be like getting a cold, but there's no guarantee," said Emory University biologist Rustom Antia, who suggests an optimistic scenario in which this could happen over a few years.

For now, the pandemic still has the United States and other parts of the world firmly in its jaws....

... We hope it will be like getting a cold, but there's no guarantee, ...

That tends to imply that the long-COVID symptoms are not present after the ~cold-like~ minor infections. Hopefully that will be true.

For those who don't know

The "Spanish flu" started in the USA

So by trumpturd logic it should be referred to as the "Kansas flu" from now on

And with Biden's incompetence, we have Delta, Lambda, Mu and all the future variants to look forward to that will be carried here through our open borders. Biden death count is already up 260K despite having 3 working vaccines for the entirety of his administration. Bang up job there. BTW, Indian state Uttar Pradesh (250M people) is now covid free. I will let you guess how they achieved that with a vaccination rate under 10%.

Now, let's move to the question of how their covid policy differed from that of say Kerala state - which has vaccination rates on par with the US but now has spiking cases as opposed to UP or Dehli going to zero. What is the difference in health policy?

I am not denying that the variants may have come from other countries.

However, you need to show the data showing how those variants came in from other countries, specifically what countries and the methods of entry into the country and, specifically, how your comment of "open border" applies.

The reason I ask this question is that the "open border" designation is usually applied to our southern border by some folk.

So I just want to be clear on what you actually mean to assert.

What medicine could they be using which accounts for this difference with the US or the other Indian states that did not use it?

I am interested in this, as yet unsubstantiated, theory that the variants have entered the Country solely via the southern border.

So far I've not seen any credible evidence of such, but I am always willing to consider new information.

In September, my state (Connecticut) has been trending lower in hospitalizations and positive testing rates.

Yet other parts of the Country, during that same time period, have been having extreme medical issues, with medical professionals having to decide who to allow to die.

And in that environment you ask the question you did?

The meme if flawed. Per capita, the Spanish flu still is far deadlier since the population of the US in 1918 was abt 105 million. So Covid has killed 1/3 per capita as the Spanish flu did. Obviously this number will rise, but will it reach 3x the Spanish flu?

#39 | POSTED BY DANFORTH"

The problem here is that you have no idea what you are talking about. So, let's use this article as the definite update:

www.indiatoday.in

"The focused Covid vaccination drive in Uttar Pradesh has ensured that more than 1,53,61,007 people in the state are fully vaccinated. More than 7,47,90,900 people have been inoculated with the first dose in the state.

Uttar Pradesh has 202M population. So, they are currently at 0.75% fully vaccinated and 3.5% with one shot - so, under 10% as I have maintained from the start. Further, these vaccinations have occurred very recently so the entire plummeting in case count predates even this very small vaccination rate.

So, now that you are corrected - again - tell us how this was accomplished with the US has vaccination rates 20% higher and yet has spiking cases. What is the difference in policy?

This is a 100% lie. You confuse # of doses vs. % vaccinated - either because you are stupid or you are intentionally trying to mislead. As I posted already - UP has a 3.5% single dose rate. You are lying.

#44 | Posted by Skeptical at 2021-09-20 11:42 PM | Reply | Funny: 1

" 7,47,90,900"

That's 74 million, you moron. Your numerator is off by 90%.

" so, under 10% as I have maintained from the start."

So, you didn't understand the article, as I have maintained from the start.

For even more proof, look at India's national rate (well above 10%). Since UP has the highest rate in the country, it has to be higher. 47% of eligible adults, according to the article you misunderstood. You even linked to that fact, and avoided the wording referring to the smaller number you're now erroneously claiming.

#45 | Posted by Danforth at 2021-09-20 11:49 PM | Reply
