Charles Sykes: It looks like they're giving up, but for politicians like Anthony Gonzalez, a party run by Trump is not worth fighting for.

Trumpism=Fascism.

And the central motivation of fascism is to destroy the chance of a peaceful, prosperous life for anyone not them.

"a party run by Trump is not worth fighting for."

Apparently a party run by Trump isn't worth hanging in and fighting against, either.

Is this good for the democrats?

Sane Republicans have certainly purged themselves from the DR.

Nothing but Deplorables, malcontents, and mouth-breathers in here to shill for the Grand Olde Party.

Of course, madbumbler asks the wrong question

Nothing...ever...at any time...is good for the Democrats. Everything, including winning and being the best, is bad for Democrats.

I'm, going to take off my cynic hat for a minute and say thank goodness.

Thank goodness at least some members of the Republican Party are starting to see how unhealthy it is to be in a party dominated by shmucks. How can you look in the mirror if you have to carry water and/or work alongside such horrifically unqualified, hateful wackos as Trump, Boebert, Greene, Gosar, Paul, Cruz, McCarthy, Gohmert, Kennedy, and on and on? I'll never claim the Democrats are perfect, but they're better than today's GOP, which has some of the ugliest personalities I've ever seen on a national stage.

I don't know how long this purge goes on before the Republican Party simply folds up its ever-smaller tent.

I hope they'll call it Cleaning House.

the chief problem w the democrats is that they
do not yell, 'Sieg Heil' and all fall in line like
the Rethuglicans do Chuffy. They actually are comprised
of individuals with individual ideas as to how the country
should be run.

That being said, it is also their Achilles Heel, and
why they tend to sputter and start and not get much
done when they have majorities. Well that AND the fact
that the GOP opposes EVERY SINGLE THING THEY TRY TO DO OR
PASS...

Which, needless to say, makes governing an awfully difficult
thing to do, in such a partisan and divided Republic. One Party
wants to govern, and can't, and the other party (other than
giving tax breaks to their wealthy patrons) wants to do
nothing at all...

Welcome to Amerika!

"I don't know how long this purge goes on before the Republican Party simply folds up its ever-smaller tent."

Never.

Maybe when Trump dies.

Decades of Republicans are turning over in their graves over what has become of their party. And it really is the party of Trump, or at least appears to be. What he says is the law. There is no discussion or dissent. The king decides and the other pretend that the decision is the blessing of a wise man.

Long-dead Republicans. Ones who died before Civil Rights.

It's been the racist, fascist party ever since.

Lee Atwater told us their strategy in 1981.

Too bad dead republicans can't vote. The alive ones certainly are welcoming this fascist revolution in their party with cult like enthusiasm.

But trump is only the latest symptom of the disease rotting your party. Dubya should have clued you in. Or sarah palin. Your party loves stupid. Your party thinks ignorance is noble and knowledge is suspect, that expertise is a sign of conspiracy.

Trump only collected the harvest of stupidity that your party has been planting for decades.

After he dies you'll be left with a bunch of wannabe trumps following his path to success - corruption, crime, science denial, cheating elections, and endless endless lies parroted by a massive fervent cult.

"Your party loves stupid."

My party loves stupid?

Which party might that be?

Oh, and Alexandria Occasio Cotrez is living proof that stupidity knows no party.

- National Socialists?

Mythbomber keeps on mything....

"The right needs to stop falsely claiming that the Nazis were socialists
The Nazis hated socialists. It was the governments that rebuilt Europe that embraced social welfare programs."

WHEREAS, The RNC enthusiastically supports President Trump and continues to reject the policy positions of the Obama-Biden Administration, as well as those espoused by the Democratic National Committee today; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Republican Party has and will continue to enthusiastically support the President's America-first agenda;
RESOLVED, That the 2020 Republican National Convention will adjourn without adopting a new platform until the 2024 Republican National Convention;

In other words, the GOP made it official in 2020 that they aren't a party of policies or ideas. They are the party of Trump and his agenda. Singularly. prod-cdn-static.gop.com

How you can get something like that right and then f**k it up with idiocy about 'National Socialists' and AOC being stupid (she's not), is just weird.
