New Covid-19 cases have been on the decline over the last week -- and while that development is hopeful, one expert is warning it's not time to let down the guard with the Delta variant still spreading and winter on the way.

Another Biden lie, he said this would be gone long ago. Maybe if he paid attention to this and the other disasters he's created instead of riding his girl bike and eating ice cream in Delaware we would be better off.

"he said this would be gone long ago"

Yeah, how stupid of Biden, to believe Trumpers would be smart.

And if you show up here again with that QANonsense, I'll slap you down once more.

Perhaps if Trump hadn't been such a @@@y human and president we wouldn't be in this predicament.

The article is important but it's not a surprise.

Biden had no way of knowing that Republicans and right-wing pundits would be so effective in swindling so many people. The pandemic is still going strong because they WANT it to.

Another "expert" on NPR yesterday said they expect the peak to be in November, as they believe that's when the Delta variant will have mostly run its course.

I remember Trump saying in Spring of 2020 that it would disappear when the weather warmed up.

I am continually amazed at how dishonest you people can be, even understanding as I do how that goes with fascist territory.

Absolute sub-human trash. Put a pink star on them and ship them out to the camps.

More likely that if Trump was still president we wouldn't be in this predicament but unfortunately he isn't and Joe Biden is and the Dems control the house and the senate so you losers can't blame anyone but yourselves. Losers

More dead MAGAts, sad trombone. It's funny, Dotard and his failed son-in-law did nothing in the early days of the pandemic, because they perceived it as a political opportunity to hurt the blue statems, kill Democratic voters and hurt Democratic governors. It's funny how that has boomeranged.

Every state run by trumpers is doing worse than states not run by trumpers.

Only a moron like you would think that means we'd all be better off if trump was in charge.

Trump got half a million americans killed with incompetence and irresponsible leadership. Biden would have to nuke an american city to do as bad as trump did.

You mean as opposed to spending every weekend enriching himself at taxpayer expense by cheating at golf at one of his properties, and when he wasn't binge watching Faux Spews and Bidness, or hate watching CNN, playing with himself in a golf simulator installed in the WH basement? Joe is very lean and fit, he works out every morning. And at least he can actually ride a bike, drink water with one hand, and walk down inclines as opposed to your cult leader, who can do none of those things. Hell, the obese oaf Orange Adolf can't even walk two blocks. He needed a golf cart to ferry him at the G20 instead of WALKING with all the other world leaders. It's funny that he's so lacking in self awareness that he thinks he could beat Joe in a boxing ring. Fat Nixon would stroke out just climbing the stairs into the ring, that is if they could find boxing gloves small enough to fit his tiny, dainty, never had a callus from doing actual work, hands.

Another Biden lie, he said this would be gone long ago.

Did he?

He said there were only 15 cases and they'd soon go to zero?

That it would go away in warmer weather.

That it would disappear after the election?

That it was all a Hoax?

Oh no, that was your FKKK boy, Trump.

Thanks for showing up and letting everyone on the DR collectively kick you in your gash, F$hPu$$.

Go hide under Wissy's corpse.

But will it climb in the states that have refused vaccines and are now suffering high rates of infection? After all, they will have a buildup of antibodies naturally.

#21 | Posted by jakester at 2021-09-23 07:33 PM | Reply

Read an interesting article that looked at the rates of increase and duration of the various waves so far. It predicted the current decline and if I remember it correctly even predicted the time frame. If they are right we won't see another rise in caseloads until the next wave begins.

It did not make any suggestions as to when that might be.

I guess we will see if that article is correct or this one predicting an increase.

"But will it climb in the states that have refused vaccines and are now suffering high rates of infection?"

Yes.

"After all, they will have a buildup of antibodies naturally."

Not enough for herd immunity.

Without vaccines it will take several years to get to herd immunity levels, and that is assuming long-term immunity which already isn't such a great assumption.

"After all, they will have a buildup of antibodies naturally."

We never built up herd immunity to smallpox or measles naturally.

People who have had covid can get reinfected, and new variants get past previous defenses. The vaccine is way more effective than a case of covid.

Why are we still talking about this???

If you're vaxxed, your odds of hospitalization due to COVID are about 1/14,000.

Your odds of dying are around 1/55.6k

And of course most of these are the old and sick. 87% of deaths and 70% of hospitalizations are people over age 65.

" Your odds of dying are around 1/55.6k"

Why have those "odds" gone up every time you've reported?

And what are the odds of long-haul symptoms, or passing the deadly disease asymptomatcally to others?

"Your odds of dying are around 1/55.6k"

No, those are your odds of already being dead.

COVID-19 is the #3 killer of Americans, behind heart disease and cancer. It's the #1 cop killer.

" No, those are your odds of already being dead."

Exactly; hence the odds always getting worse: the full denominator has been used every time since the start.

Republicans are doing everything they can to minimize how bad this pandemic is in their areas.

In my state, Republican controlled counties aren't reporting their positive case counts publicly, only providing case and positive case percentage numbers as "suppressed"
