Screenwriter Russell T Davies is to take charge again of Doctor Who, the sci-fi show he helped revive in 2005.

Thought this was a joke/hoax at first. But it makes sense. He did say he'd only come back if he thought the show was in real trouble, and I bet the BBC were seriously considering axing it if he didn't come back. The last few years of the show will probably be ignored, for the most part.

Can they get an actor who doesn't suck to play the doctor again?

They need someone new to keep the show moving forward, but I'm sure Davies will make a much wiser casting choice than Chibnall did.

I wouldn't be surprised if Davies' first episode the new era will be titled "The Second Coming". which was also the name of a mini-series he wrote starring Christopher Eccleston in 2003.
