A north Georgia teacher has died of COVID-19 one month after her husband, who coached middle school football, also died of the virus. Heidi Hammond, 44, died Friday. Hammond taught at Chatsworth Elementary School in Murray County. She had been employed with the school system for more than 20 years and taught first grade. Her husband, Sean Hammond, 51, died of COVID-19 on Aug. 30. Hammond was the new football coach at Hammond Creek Middle School in Dalton. The couple were parents to a 12-year-old son, Marshall.
