The Senate on Thursday afternoon passed a deal party leaders reached late Wednesday to avert a government shutdown that would have affected hundreds of thousands of federal workers and slammed an economy still struggling to recover from the pandemic, all with just hours left to stave off a crisis.

This created some end of quarter headaches for sure. Glad we've avoided shutdown until they run out of money on Oct 18, at which point Republicans can troll the libs by having America go bankrupt and collapsing the economy and the country -- both at the same time.

For decades the Great Depression of 1929 was actually known as the Great Republican Depression of 1929. So, if they so irresponsibly do cause such a catastrophic event again I hope they are met with more than words, threaten the livlihoods of millions? Then you should be met with appropriate consequences.,. Our corporate news media does us all a disservice by catering to pharmaceutical manufacturers, Medicare Advantage plans and law firms every single night when they broadcast the news....none of which was even legal decades ago nor in most modern nations today. There are good, solid reasons why those types of ads should not be allowed on national TV but the networks are corrupt and greedy so they will air any ad that the advertiser is willing to pay for. There are no ethics i broadcasting today and it is helping to kill our democracy.

Don't they do a "last minute deal" every time?

Except when they don't.

And when they don't, the world doesn't end. I see an increase in angry posts from ATC friends not getting paid but still going to work. Then those eventually dry up when a deal is struck. Followed by news articles of theoretical economic losses.

Too many people spend money they haven't earned to buy things they don't want to impress people they don't like.
