Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, October 06, 2021

Former presidential and New York City mayoral candidate Andrew Yang announced Monday he has changed his voter registration, making official his break with the Democratic Party. "I've been a Democrat my entire adult life," Yang wrote in a blog post explaining his decision. "And yet, I'm confident that no longer being a Democrat is the right thing."

NBC obviously cares enough to start immediately bashing him on behalf of the Democratic party:

Andrew Yang, Failed Presidential and NYC Mayoral Candidate, Leaves Democratic Party

Andrew Yang's Forward Party is directionless

No doubt Faux News and the right are reveling in this division and driving away of many who probably voted for Biden.

The left is not just Dems you know. You guys hate the competition. Work with the real left as Dems and you won't have these "distractions" to worry about. Yang has every right as an American to run as any party he wants.

And no Ralph Nader did not make Bush the ogre president. People have the right to vote for whomever they want, the Dems don't "own" the left, they need to court them,if they want to win elections, that is.

I like his platform on ranked choice voting. At the same time, there is unlikely to be any change to our electoral process without the nation undergoing a severe crisis - and then any change would be unlikely to benefit electing better leaders.

Too many stakeholders and too much invested into the status quo to benevolently change the system unless it gives someone an edge, and voters are an afterthought as they only have cache as a stakeholder for one day every two years.

From what I've seen of his recent campaign, I'd say he is probably unable to handle that he lost the nomination for mayor. He came in fourth place with 10% or so of the votes in the Democrat primary.

It is good that he is starting a new party because the Democrats do not seem to want anything to do with him. His campaign had little sense of strategy to it, he seemed to rely on the fact that he was a Democrat mayoral candidate in a blue NYC.
