Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Miles Taylor and Christine Todd Whitman: It's become obvious that political extremists maintain a viselike grip on the national G.O.P., the state parties and the process for fielding and championing House and Senate candidates in next year's elections.

We who fear fascism always hope that people lose interest in it.

But it doesn't really help when you people trade Trump for DeSantis.

Of course they don't, they're cool with him being a democracy destroying dicktator. They're happy with the march down the road of authoritarianism because it furthers their agenda of white supremacy, no rights for homosexuals and xenophobia. Throw in egregious tax slashes for billionaires and they wet themselves with glee.

Heck, I would certainly be willing to vote republican. I vote competence. 2020 wasn't a great series of choices, but I made mine.

Trumpism, however isn't about competence. I'm looking for competence next election, hopefully not Biden, and absolutely not Trump or any Trump sycophant.

Look at that picture.

Mostly fat old white people who are (ironically) the ones ruining America.

The rest are stupid, probably unsuccessful loser fat white people who think they're owed something.

It would be very interesting to see how this crowd would respond if Trump said he plans to do away with wasteful government handouts in the form of ethanol subsidies.

Would they cheer, even though ethanol subsidies put food on Iowa's corn farming tables?

#12 | Posted by snoofy at 2021-10-11 01:39 PM | Reply

Cheer? Hell no.

They'll get all butthurt, whine about how Trump lied to them and then they'll turn on him.

#13 | Posted by jpw at 2021-10-11 01:50 PM | Reply

Except they wouldn't turn on him. Because they have nowhere else to turn to.

Anyone who wonders why an abused woman won't leave her husband, can find their answer in why Trumpers stick with Trump, even as Trump policies make their lives worse.

Because in their minds they have nowhere else to go.

If someone like DeSantis saw Trump's hold slipping because of his base got angry, you can bet your ass he'll play it for all it's worth.

Trump didn't create the aggrieved, faux victim complexed right wing base. He just played it and nurtured it to increase his clout.

I'll give Trump credit. For better or worse he drove the likes of Rick Wilson and Bill Kristol to the Democratic Party.

It's real. Yes, it's exaggerated for political reasons. But if you think border chaos resulting in a humanitarian crisis, the Afghanistan withdrawal, strangling energy prices with the economic downfalls that go with, rampant inflation (straw that broke the back but incredibly stupid) empowering Putin, China and Iran was the collective solution ... . 2022 will likely be very damaging for Democrats.

These are exactly the people Obama said cling to their guns and their religion.

Both of which continue to batter and abuse them. Gun violence rates much higher in Red states. Baptist Convention finally allowing investigation into sexual abuse among their congregations.

" he drove the likes of Rick Wilson and Bill Kristol (away) ... "

And kept the likes of Alex Jones, Matt Gaetz, and that Veritas guy who keeps getting caught deceptively editing video.

Some deal.

Trumpism, however isn't about competence.

No one would ever confuse the name Trump with competence.

Corruption.

Criminal.

Obnoxious.

Egotistical.

Ignorant.

Traitor.

Cheater.

Adultery.

Greedy.

But never competence.

Have we answered the question yet on what we do about the domestic terrorists occupying the Portland area?

Or do we call them "mostly peaceful protesters."

Forget that Portland stuff, what matters is that BOAZ is getting bored. This could lead down the slippery slope to ennui, languor, and malaise.

Perhaps taking some librul out back and shooting him might perk him up a bit, folks. Hmmmm, which librul to offer up...hmmm... Wait! Jakester is a Liberal, right? Not sayin, but face it, we gotta doooo something, and fast!

We cant let BOAZ go on in this diminished, borderline bored condition.

Poor old feller, he endures so much for us all...we kinda owe it to him to let him take Jakester out back and shoot him...(prolly after a little BoBo, though;)

If you want the hardcore Trumpers out of the GOP it has to be done during the primaries. There are some seats and state houses that are going to be red and every moderate Republican is being challenged by a far right extremist. They have to be beat in the primary because no matter who the candidate the seat will be held by a Republican.

On Sean Hannity's Fox News show, it's still Trump, Trump, Trump
Almost every night, a member of the Trump family or a former Trump administration official appears as a guest on the primetime show

Of the approximately 160 episodes of "Hannity" that have aired since Jan. 20, more than 60 percent have included at least one former Trump administration official, and often more, according to a Washington Post tally. Nearly 30 percent of those episodes featured a member of the Trump family. A Trump appears on "Hannity" every night for some consecutive stretches: Lara Trump was on the show Friday, Aug. 13, and returned the following Monday. Trump himself appeared the next night, and Donald Trump Jr. the night after that. And on two occasions since Biden's inauguration, the "Hannity" set was packed with four former Trump aides on the same night.

Dude wake up. That cult is not going to change. The only way to stop the fascist uprising is with anti fascist legislation. End gerrymandering. Pass the voting rights bills. This is our last chance to do it. You can't solve this with fake democracy that is controlled by their fascist cult.

Dems have the power to end this now. The fate of the nation is in their hands and they're not going to save it. They'll be regretting it for decades if not longer.
