Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

While the Capitol was under attack on Jan. 6, former President Donald Trump remained out of sight from the public and watched TV in the White House private dining room, ABC News' chief Washington correspondent Jonathan Karl revealed on ABC's "This Week."

He enjoyed it and, know what? At least half of the GOP decided they enjoyed it.

I think that is it possible the United States has had it too good for too long. Spoilation has bred a generation or two of spoiled slovenly Right-wing vipers who overwhelmingly don't know what it feels like to really suffer, but sincerely think they have it bad, and therefore think that war here might be useful, exciting, and fun.

This is what happens when you are left alone too long with your huge pickup trucks and guns. You go "poor, poor me" and think that the remedy for the uncomfortable feelings you don't have the skills you handle is killing someone. You are especially challenged by hard-working immigrants who by and large work the hours and read the books you won't.

If there is a civil war (God forbid) the first shots will be a massacre by fascist Trumpites. Many innocents will be killed, but the fascists will create a self-flattering myth around it as fascists always do.

Yes, I think the Trumpites are going to kill people. I think that because they really want that. If we are "lucky" the deaths with be few. But deaths there will be, with grand self-justifications for the murders. With proud memorials pasted on Facebook. With the murderers proposed for sainthood.

"Ashli Babbit was unable to comment on this"

Because she got what she deserved unlike the rest of the mob who invaded our Capital.

Ashli Babbit...

Doesn't understand the difference between attack and defense.

Ok. We get it. Everybody gets it. Trump wanted a coup on Jan. 6. Even his most die hard defenders get it, they just lie about it because the truth is too harsh to defend.

Somebody please explain. How does Trump go about starting a civil war with his rag-tag army that the U.S. National Guard can't handle with superior numbers, technology, firepower and leadership?

I'm not doubting that a lot of people would get killed. I'm just curious about how many would be stupid enough to rise up against such formidable odds.

Trumplicans should be treated like the Bugs in the movie Starship Troopers.

For a second Kevin McCarthy was a decent American. That was the second he asked Trump "who the f*** you think you're talking to?"

Trump's lucky McCarthy didn't have a normal reaction to an attempt on his life.

"Trump's lucky McCarthy didn't have a normal reaction to an attempt on his life."

I wouldn't call it luck. It was more like they both understood their co-dependent relationship. Trump needs McCarthy to be the Speaker of the House to drive a spike in any Democrat resistance after 2024.

Mike Pence is the one who needs a food taster. Pence is groveling but Trump never forgets and never forgives.

"they both understood their co-dependent relationship."

Did either sound like they had any such understanding that day?

Kevin swore a blue streak at trump.

"Kevin swore a blue streak at trump."

That true. He did. He was screaming at Trump to "call it off."

I'd have to surmise that McCarthy wasn't kept in the loop about Trump's "other" intentions that day until he started to hear the chant about killing the Vice President. That, in itself, might have stirred McCarthy to think things were getting out of hand ~ thus the phone call.

A coup is one thing. A murder is quite another.

Re my #14

"A coup is one thing. A murder is quite another."

At least that's what I would be thinking if, in his shoes, there would be even one shred of fear that I could be named as complicit (read: thrown under the bus) in a charge of murder.

Trump never takes responsibility for anything.

In that respect, McCarthy did the right thing even it was for all the wrong reasons . . . and, if needed, set up his own defense.

Alot of people feel tough with an ar-15 in their hands.....
But to people flying Blackhawks and using combined arms, they will seem small and insignificant IMO
Good luck!
