Abbott is frightened to death of Huffines in the GOP primary and all of his crazy behavior can be attributed to his frantic desire to out-fascist the fascist and also the conveniently political fact that Abbott has always been a wheelchair in search of a soul.

Just when you think Republicans can't go any lower, another minute passes.

Pretty sure texas has a suicide hotline for everyone.

Tor brings up a good point. The lgbtetc community has a great deal of cultural acceptance now and it seems to me as long as they don't call a center supporting an anti-lgbtetc agenda having a special line seems redundant.

Have you seen high school proms these days? Nobody cares!

Time to assimilate... which was the point of it all right?

Then again I'd rather the normal hotline not have to deal with more people than it likely already is.

It's almost a paradox.

The "pro life" party is:

Pro climate change

Pro pandemic

Pro teen suicide

The only lives they pretend to care about are parasitic growths in pregnant women.

Talk about being dealt a tough hand in life... Being born LGBTQ in this world means that de facto you will be hated for your entire life by a large percentage of the population as a result of something you had no control over. Of course there suicide and runaway rates are through the roof. Almost nobody accepts them for who they are.

It wasn't just a hotline number they took down. It was a page with a number of resources specifically crafted to help LGBTQ+ with the unique concerns they face. The hotline in question is operated by the Trevor Project and is staffed with operators with special training on dealing with the type of calls they receive just like they have special hotlines listed on their site for vets/military and the one they have for teens. Why didn't they delist those if it is all the same?

By the way, they didn't totally remove the information. You can still find much of it hidden away in the social media toolkit on the DFPS site.

Also, while DFPS took down the information, it is still up on the HHS site. www.hhs.texas.gov

This is clearly a political stunt on the part of Abbott's administration to play to the far right. The fact that removing this resource may be detrimental to a small percentage of people, who happen to be a group that is most at risk from suicide, doesn't matter to the "pro-life" Governor.

#9 Those folks weren't going to vote for him anyway.

Why would he care if the stunt kills a few, as long as he gets the political points he needs. /s

Tldr and I already changed my mind I don't want other suicide hotlines be expected to deal with any more people than they already are.

How many commenting here actually read the article? It's a paywall for me. I'd like to comment but OP needs to do a better job when sourcing the thread.
