A Republican state legislative candidate in Virginia posed an interesting question on Twitter recently. -- I'm curious, Do you think the sea level would lower, if we just took all the boats out of the water?

Looks like the modern way to get ahead in the GOP is to say something stupid and when liberals dunk on you open a crowd fund.

"Just a thought, not a statement"

LOL ~ Maybe he could have all boats refitted with wings.

BTW, I used to own a sailboat called "Pegasus." It could almost fly. Does that count?

Probably born and raised by cult members. He's never had an intelligent thought in his life, his brain is pre-programmed to reject Communist ideas like thoughts.

What if we handed out straws (the fat ones, for milkshakes) to everyone on Earth, and we each took a big slurp of the ocean.
Would that not lower the sea level?
And by lowering the sea level, would that not be the same as raising the altitude of all the land on Earth, thus cooling the planet?

Just a thought, not a statement.

A rising tide raises all boats.

Has he considered how much lower the seas could be if we eliminated whales and fish? They take up a lot of space in the sea.

Danni: your comment got my toes to a tappin' (I prefer the Rascals' cover to the original by the Marvelettes, with heavy organ work by Felix C.):

Well, if the fish isn't on your line
Bait your hook and keep on trying
Don't let him get you down
There's other boys around
Because there's too many fish in the sea
Too many fish in the sea
I said, there's short ones, tall ones, fine ones, kind ones
Too many fish in the sea

Proof that there a ill informed on both sides of the isle: How many remember this dem's no so brilliant statement?

During a March 25, 2010, House Armed Services Committee hearing[40] about the U.S. military installation in Guam, Johnson said to Admiral Robert F. Willard, Commander of U.S. Pacific Command, "My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize",

They'll go all the way back to Chappaquiddick if you trigger them right.

I saw it as a humorous point to ponder referencing the attached graphic of boat traffic. It was not framed as a "suggestion" to solve the problem of rising sea levels. But go ahead, pile on the man, call him stupid. He was technically correct. Taking all the boats out of the water WOULD lower sea levels. Not very much, but if would.

It was just a stupid comment and he should be universally ridiculed for making it no matter what MIRANDAZ says about it. It was still just incredibly stupid and for any elected politician to say it should embarrass him and everyone that ever voted for him.

Removing the boats would have roughly the same effect on sea level as the Kyoto Accords.

You had to go back over ten years to find an example but Republicans say really stupid things on a daily basis.

Ladies and gentlemen, THIS is a perfect example of the state of the GQP.
Not an outlier.
Not just "somer kook."
This guy is pretty typical.
I'm just surprised he didn't suggest Ivermectin as a remedy for global warming.

Sorry you are too dense to recognize obvious humor ... ..or maybe you can, but pretending to take such a remark literally fuels your need for faux outrage. Then again, if you prefer a literal interpretation, he is absolutely correct, so who is stupid?
