Approximately 90,000 covid-19 deaths could have been avoided over four months of this year if more U.S. adults had chosen to be vaccinated, according to a study published on Wednesday, as the disease caused by the coronavirus became the second-leading cause of death in the United States.

The estimate by researchers backed by the Peterson Center on Healthcare and the Kaiser Family Foundation focused on deaths of U.S. adults from June 2021 -- when the report says coronavirus vaccines became widely available to the general public -- through September.

But around half of those preventable deaths occurred in September, due to the spread of the more contagious delta variant, easing social distancing rules, and the lower vaccination rate among younger adults, according to the study.

In September, covid-19 was the leading cause of death for adults between ages 35 and 54, while it was the second most common reason for mortality among the larger population, even when including data for children under 15 years old, the study showed.

The price of personal freedom comes with a very heavy - oftentimes fatal - toll.

90,000 dead including a minimum of 85,000 Republicans.

Soooo...."back the blue," unless they are trying to prevent an overthrow of the government, right?

One death is a tragedy, 90,000 deaths is a statistic, 90,000 Republicant deaths is a comedy.

So what? 90,000 deaths isn't as bad as asking a sociopath to wear a mask or get a shot.

Right madbomber? These were all people whose lives weren't worth saving if it was any inconvenience to sociopaths like you.

That's a month's worth of 9/11's.
Dying @$$-up like blue-faced bloated martyrs suffocating for the cause.

(psssssst, I hear tell some of them were begging for the vaccine after it was too late)

ahhhhh well we all make mistakes...

Remember when the cl0wns used to brag about not doing body counts?
This is why.

"90,000 dead including a minimum of 85,000 Republicans." - ZED

Keep your snuff fantasies to yourself. Many of the deaths have been among Hispanics and Blacks. Until very recently vaccine hesitancy among them was greater than whites.

Most people being killed (committing suicide) are white Republicans. For the obvious, in-your-face reasons.

There is vax hesitancy across the board. Only the fascists have made it a freaking loyalty test.

More dead than in Vietnam. Hey, Trumpers--you're losing this war...

I feel really bad for those people who died after being vaccinated and those who truly can't be vaccinated.

yeah that's why montana and idaho's hospitals were overwhelmed. All those hispanic and black people in those extremely multicultural states right?

That's because SMART WHITES hide the statistical stupidity of TRUMP WHITES.

If TRUMP WHITES were considered its own racial group, it would have the highest vaccine hesitancy by far.

No doubt most were 'pro-life' (pro-forced birth ... they don't care about anyone after they're born).

I don't doubt they GOP voters are overrepresented in the total number number of deaths but blacks and Hispanics have been among the least likely to get vaccinated.

However, your idea 85K out of 90K deaths being GOP is nothing more than sociopathic fantasy.

Again, keep your snuff fantasies to yourself.

"but blacks and Hispanics have been among the least likely to get vaccinated."

Republicans significantly outnumber both Blacks and Hispanics put together.

"However, your idea 85K out of 90K deaths being GOP is nothing more than sociopathic fantasy."

It's high, but he's got the imbalance right.

Probably more like 3:1 GOP to Democrat, now that vaccines exist.

The largest increases in vaccine uptake between July and September were among Hispanic adults and those ages 18-29, and similar shares of adults now report being vaccinated across racial and ethnic groups (71% of White adults, 70% of Black adults, and 73% of Hispanic adults). Large gaps in vaccine uptake remain by partisanship, education level, age, and health insurance status.

Uninsured Adults, Republicans, Rural Residents, White Evangelicals, Those Without College Degrees, And Younger Adults Continue To Lag In COVID-19 Vaccine Uptake

Some pretty big overlap in those groups...
I'd love to see the split table of GOP vaccination by income levelm and education level.

If only you and your deplorable cohorts had kept your freedumb fantasies to yourselves and not voted a criminally incompetent sociopath in the White House.

But you didn't. And now with your support Trumpy and his deplorables are responsible for those hundreds of thousands of deaths because lying Trumpy wanted to downplay the seriousness of the pandemic because idiots like you can't handle the truth.

"It's only 15 cases!"

"Soon to be zero!"

"It will disappear like magic!"

Please seek some mental health services. You are delusional. I've never supported Trump and I can guarantee you I was the first DR member to get vaccinated because I am a participant in the Astra Zenica trial in my area. I've mentioned it several times.
