...Driving the news: The Supreme Court in August upheld a lower court's decision ordering the administration to reimplement the policy formally called the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) program, which requires asylum seekers at the southern border to wait in Mexico while their claims are processed in U.S. courts....

The big picture: The Biden administration cannot restart the program without the consent of the Mexican government. DHS said that it is in communication with Mexican officials to address when and how the program will be reimplemented.

"Mexico is a sovereign nation that must make an independent decision to accept the return of individuals without status in Mexico as part of any reimplementation of MPP," DHS said....

There you go. Border crisis solved.

Many Republicans are secretly hoping the Biden admin fails to do this, so they can continue to effectively use the talking point that vagrant migrants are being released into the U.S. with no guarantee they'll show up for their court date.

I live in S. Florida where we have migrants from many different nations. I know quite a few of them. Hard working, law abiding people who just want a chance to live safely in an environment not controlled by gangs or corrupt governments. If we expelled most of the illegal immigrants we'd be begging them to come back within a week. We need their labor and the entirel illegal immigration issue is just racism, if they were white they'd be welcomed. When you need a new roof on your house you might recognize who is doing the work. They ain't white guys.

Wrong. Four white guys did my roof in 2019 and 2 white guys did my siding in 2021.

It's good to see that you agree the Republicans use the southern border more as a political talking point than anything else.

It is the reason why fmr Pres Trump rejected Congress' Four Pillars immigration reform plan in 2018. The Four Pillars plan was constructed by Congress with the guidance of Trump's White House advisor Stephen Miller. Congress effectively handed fmr Pres Trump a bill that he wanted, yet fmr Pres Trump said he would not sign it. Why wouldn't he sign it? Well, it would remove immigration from being a political issue he can use identity politics to exploit.

The Republicans, as your comment notes, still seem to be of a similar mindset, wanting more to exploit the problem and not solve it.

They could be black like my lawn guy, but studies have shown the depression of low end job wages caused by immigration disproportionately effects black people.

The problem is that companies in the United States are too dependent upon the undocumented people working for them. A way to help solve the illegal immigration problem is to go after the employers that hire undocumented people. Even the Customs and Border Patrol has said as much.

"The problem is that companies in the United States are too dependent upon the undocumented people working for them."

Not just companies, but also individuals. Like the one in this thread who bragged about hiring colored migrants to do her roof, and probably clean her toilets too.

@#11 ... Not just companies, but also individuals. ...

While there are some individuals at blame, the majority of the problem is due to companies.

...A small army of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents surrounded the plants, one by one, and arrested about 680 workers alleged to be in this country illegally. ... But as ICE continues processing the immigrants arrested in the raids, owners of the plants remain free -- despite the fact they, too, are alleged to have broken the law by hiring "undocumented" workers. ...

How you can actually type this out while simultaneously whining about wage stagnation at the low end of the wage spectrum is mind boggling.

GFY

Immigration is no excuse for wage stagnation. That is akin to slave traders blaming the slaves for getting caught.

Economic disparity is a product of greed and pandering to a few. The poor get blamed because they are easy targets. The rich hire military-style forces of one sort or another to subdue the poor.

There is this delusion among the "investment" class that believes it's their money working for them when in fact there is not a single penny made anywhere on this earth without some form of human labor involved or exploitation of natural resources.

How is it that SCOTUS is responsible for US immigration policy? These Dotard stacked courts are out of control. The remain in Mexico policy is cruel and dangerous for those who are lawfully making asylum claims. Statistics clearly show that they vast, vast majority of them make their court dates.

Studies have not shown low-end wages are depressed by immigration.

That's more like a right-wing Article of Faith.

Not at all, it's what should have happened in the first place. Keep people from invading our country illegally. That's not so hard to understand, is it?

"Invading" LOL.

Especially funny when, according to you, the insurgents didn't "invade" The Capitol on Jan 6.

Show me an "insurgent" that wasn't an American citizen. Do we not collectively own and have paid for all of that real estate. ----, I'm glad you weren't around to stop the Boston Tea Party.

By that logic, you should be allowed to go into the girl's bathroom in the public elementary school in your neighborhood.

Is that how you ended up with a criminal record, or was it the boy's bathroom?
