Squid Game is about the barbarism of capitalism and the ultimate futility of individualism. The fact that it's popular in this country could be an early indication of a new direction.

This story is also indicative that Dave Chappelle is expensive because he can generate publicity. He's rich, ------!

"Squid Game is about the barbarism of capitalism"

Oh it does more than that.

Ever notice that out of all the people that go into the games one out of the three finalists had escaped form north korea?

Though the lions share of the criticism is clearly aimed at runaway inflation and hyper capitalism as an ideology the series still implies that the whole kettle of crazy is still better than the socialist paradise or whatever the fruity cult in the north calls it's self.

#2 It's called Juche, the principle of self reliance.

Notice that we call one aspect of this principle "energy independence" and Republicand cream their jeans over it.
It fulfills their "Self Made Man" mythology at the nation-state level.

"Juche (/d'ute/; About this soundEnglish pronunciation (helpinfo); Korean: ; lit. subject; Korean pronunciation: [tute]; usually left untranslated[1] or translated as "self-reliance") is the official ideology of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, described by the government as "Kim Il-sung's original, brilliant and revolutionary contribution to national and international thought".[2] It postulates that "man is the master of his destiny",[3] that the masses are to act as the "masters of the revolution and construction", and that by becoming self-reliant and strong, a nation can achieve true socialism."

The squids must be hated by communists.
Self reliance is a no no.
All for vun, vun for all..

Squid Game is just another bit in a long line of gore-suspense-torture porn. Chappelle's special was more entertaining.

Chappelle's special was more entertaining.

Meh. I fell asleep about halfway through. I didn't think it was nearly as good as his other specials.

Still better than a Saw-Purge-Battle Royale mashup.

Squid Games was written by an unknown, who had been trying to sell his script for over a decade.

Dave Chappell is Dave Chappell.

Comparing the two is ridiculous.

That's like wondering why some hotshot new rookie isn't making as much as LeBron James.

Battle Royale is great.

The Raid Redemption is greater.

The Raid 2 is greatest!
