Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Tuesday, October 19, 2021

On Jan. 6, as the Capitol riot raged around them, a rag-tag group of pro-Trump senators hid in a closet to plot their next move, fretting that the insurrection was making them look pretty bad. The new detail comes from a Washington Post interview with Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), the college football coach-turned MAGA congressman whose first full day in his new job coincided with the Capitol riot. He recounted hiding in a storage closet with around a dozen other Trump-supporting senators as they sought privacy from their colleagues to thrash out a plan.

"One thing that was brought up was that people were hurt," Tuberville recalled, adding that the theme of the discussion was: "Do we want to continue this if there's not going to be a result we are looking for anyway?" Some senators did change their minds after the closet meeting, but Tuberville went on to object to certifying the electoral college votes in Arizona and Pennsylvania.

... "Do we want to continue this if there's not going to be a result we are looking for anyway?" ...

That's quite the comment to admit to.

No, I'm not going to make the obvious joke.

This is an admission of conspiracy.

I'm voting for Tawkin Tommy Tuberville to attend all of the conspirators' future meetings.

CLOWN makes a good point.

Why weren't the pro-Trumpers out there holding the doors open for these "tourists".

Why were they cowering in s storage room?

What percentage of GOP congresspeople were in on this insurrection? Seems like most of them.

#9 | Posted by moder8 at 2021-10-19 05:19 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

So... they were afraid to come out of the closet?

That's kinda ironic.

But hey, they did come up with a cunning plan. "I know, let's just seemingly condemn the insurrection now, and then we'll re-elect Trump next time!" - Mitch the B

Probably quite a few who don't want their names connected to the violence we all saw that day. Especially right before mid-terms. They can just imagine the hay-day the Democrats would make of it.

DANFORTH

" but Tuberville went on to object to certifying the electoral college votes in Arizona and Pennsylvania."

Not just Tuperville. Trump had a slew of them lined up to raise an objection so they could delay the certification by wasting hours in a backroom justifying their objection. Actually, some of them chickened out which probably saved Pence's life ~ or at least a vicious beating that would put him in the hospital.

Trump was "sweating bullets" desperate by that time and the mob seemed quite willing to oblige.

Odd that Trump didn't know there was a President Pro Tem who would finish the certification if Pence wasn't able to continue. Or maybe he did know and was just blinded with murderous rage at Pence personally.

And seriously, you don't believe if there was a mob chanting to hang you at the same address you're at, you'd be at risk???

Ludicrous on its face.

Well, just like the bible, the constitution, business rights, small government, debt ceiling, spending limits, etc. states rights are only applicable when it SUITS THEIR AGENDA.

Taking over a government building to whine about the government demanding payment for cattle grazing fees is patriotic, while doing so to protest about police murdering citizens is a riot.

Businesses refusing to serve people on the base of sexual orientation is okay, but businesses refusing to serve people who are not vaccinated or won't wear a mask must be punished.

It goes on and on.

Tell that to Kevin Greeson, Benjamin Phillips, Michael Fanone and Brian Sicknick or the 81 other Capitol police officers injured in the attack.

About 65 D.C. police officers also suffered injuries on Jan. 6, including several concussions from head blows from various objects, including metal poles ripped from inauguration-related scaffolding and even a pole with an American flag attached, D.C. police officials have said. Other injuries included swollen ankles and wrists, bruised arms and legs, and irritated lungs from bear and pepper spray.

Reports say officers were pushed down stairs, trampled by rioters, punched and run over in a stampede.

I've muted Trumpsucker TinkerBell, but I see he has again weighed in with the stupidest take of the day. That mob would have killed Nancy Pelosi and any other Dem they came across on that day. They beat and injured Capitol and DC Cops with weapons like hockey sticks, flag poles, and batons; they sprayed them with chemical irritants that burned the skin of at least one Capitol Cop who testified after the attempted coup. Somehow the traitors believe they're on the same side as the cops; imagine if they had come face to face with one of their real villains on that day. Sadly, the death of Ashli Babbitt probably saved the lives of several Congresspeople, as there were reportedly about 80 of them sheltering in the vicinity of the Speaker's Lobby, which is where Babbitt and the rest of the traitors were trying to go. In his new book, Congressman Schiff writes about the fear some of his GQP colleagues had for his safety that day.

Oh, and we know Ghouliani was trying to get ahold of Tubabrain during the coup because another Senator played the misdirected voicemail intended for the brain-damaged former coach, begging him to delay the vote. It was all part of a larger plan, and hopefully, the January 6th Commission will get to the bottom of it.

That's why the secret service rushed the VP out of the capital.

Because was NO danger. No risk. But do run! Now! After all ... He needed the practice and the exercise.

And it only took one shot to stop the revolt? Cowards! Snowflakes! Losers!

No wonder you lost the election and were impeached twice! You lost the insurrection too!

What a bunch of Losers. Lost the election AND lost the resulting revolt and insurrection after only one shot?

Trump and his deplorables are apparently very lousy insurrectionists.

#23 yes, some capitol police suffered some injuries and the number injured on that day is a fraction of the number of police officers who were injured during the 2020 left wing riots.

Blah blah ...

You seek to defend the deplorable actions of a criminal.

You don't "recall" the concern of the "left" because you don't want to. And what exactly does that have to do with the sedition and insurrection of Trumpy Trump and the deplorables?

Do you think that police officer would agree that he was not at risk?

He should have shot everyone putting him at risk and the insurrectionists inside the building who coordinated the attack.

That's because 2020 riots weren't attempts to end democracy and install a fascist tyrant.

Only YOUR CULT riots for that purpose.

lefties riot against government oppression - executing citizens without trial. The same thing your cult would riot against if you actually cared about justice or democracy.

The left riots to save democracy. Your cult riots to destroy it.

The Republicans left an absolute disaster after 4 years of Trump. This is what happens when you allow a Russian puppet President to run the United States. We are no longer United and the Republicans are unable or unwilling to address the situation. When the Republicans gain control of the House or Senate again, it will be game over for the United States. We would not have survived another 4 years of Orange Jesus and the Democrats have failed to take control. They are only capable of playing "nice".

Democrats would rather fascists take over the country than fight back and have the fascists call them "partisan".

Biden was the wrong man for this time. That old fool thought repubs would go back to normal after trump.

And clearly garland promised to easy on the fascists in order to get his job.
