Oh look, a Republicant CRIMINAL. What a surprise. Why isn't there a cop with his knee on this pathetic clown's neck?

Before I call Jeff Fortenberry a criminal I'd like to know what a "Lebanese Community in Los Angeles" expected to get in return for their $30,000 contribution to a congressman from Nebraska. I'm not excusing Fortenberry but I would like to know if this money was a bribe for something or just a contributor's ignorance of campaign laws.

Guaranteed re-election for him. He can end his term in jail and win by a landslide because Repubican...

$30,000 isn't enough to guarantee anybody's re-election.

He's not going to jail. He has plausible deniability and he DID return the money. As for lying to the FBI, they have to prove he knew he was lying at the time. My guess, he was as surprised as anybody else. What's NOT in his favor is the long time it took him to return the money. That alone is typical of a politician who didn't want to amend an oversight until AFTER he was caught.

He made a mistake by not returning the money immediately.

It's a tough spot to be in as a candidate or politician fundraising. When a contributor donates money, they are asserting that they are not foreign nationals and are not making the donation on behalf or funded by others. No elected official, or their team, has the bandwidth to do an independent background check on each contributor. Largest mistake was him waiting years after being approached to take action, but at the same time the politician isn't wealthy, the money was likely already spent on campaign activities, and 30K would have been 10% of the congressman's total net-worth ( according to official filings).

Of course campaign coffers are separate from any one's personal account, but a wealthier pol would have likely put 30K of their own money into the campaign and then returned the foreign funds to the illegal donors.

LOL, Trump defends him by saying he lied, so what? Other in Congress have lied too.

With support like that, who needs friends? Trump admits he lied. Thanks!

Trump judges others by his own standards.

He's a liar so he thinks everybody is a liar;
He's a thief so he thinks everybody is a thief;
He's a con artist so he thinks everybody is a con artist;
He's a cheater so he thinks everybody is a cheater;
He's a narcissist so he thinks everybody is a narcissist;
He's rotten to the core so he thinks everybody is rotten to the core.

Liar, thief, con artist, cheater, rotten to the core . . . the list is much longer but I think we all get the point.

I know there's a clinical name for Trump's mental illness. Somebody help me out here. The word "crazy" is already a given.

I don't know if it's in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM"5), but "------ In The Noggin" seems about right.

Definitely some of his wiring is arching. I hear that's what causes spontaneous human combustion (Melania should be so lucky).

I know there's a clinical name for Trump's mental illness.

"And countless experts have already done so: They have commented on Trump's alleged paranoid, sadistic, and psychopathic tendencies; diagnosed him with narcissistic personality disorder; and suggested he might suffer from neurological conditions like dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Naturally, many have questioned his fitness to serve as the President of the United States."

"House Judiciary Committee members to express their concerns that due to his "brittle sense of self-worth,""

All are spot on. The moron was mentally broken by his daddy who never loved him.

His Dad always called him a loser.

So Daddy gave him a few million dollar in seed money, just to prove his point?

Well done, Daddy Dear. Well done.

It just would be difficult for me to have a lower opinion of Republican politicians than I already have. We are at 0% level of trust. Does sub-zero exist?

I always suspected that creating "low opinions of Republicans" was part of President's Biden's long game. It seems like the names of Republicans with their hands in the cookie jar keep popping up every news cycle.

"It seems like the names of Republicans with their hands in the cookie jar keep popping up every news cycle."

Speaking of which . . .

Just today Mother Jones reported about Glen Younkin (R), candidate for Governor in Virginia, was making nice-nice about President Biden, saying Biden was the legitimate President and the 2020 election was on the up-and- up. At the same time he contributed one million dollars of his own money to a PAC that echoes Trump's claims of fraud as well as disclaimers about the amount of violence on 1/6. So Youngkin is just another Republican snake in the grass.

There's a new thread about it on this site today. You can read about it yourself.
