Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

All they did was install radiators in a dormitory but for some losers that's terrifying. Oddly enough the Shrinking Violets assumed the gender of the repair workers. Colleges supposed to educate people but also prepare them for the real world and no there is no way to have a normal life and avoid straight people including men.

More from the cited article...

...Fray-Witzer requested an exemption to the radiator installation, but it was denied. "A significant portion of students choose to live in Baldwin because they are victims of sexual assault or abuse, have suffered past invasions of privacy, or have some other reason to fear cisgender men," wrote Fray-Witzer. "...But why not finish the project during the four months of the summer semester, when the building was unoccupied? Why not alert us earlier to the intrusion? Why didn't the College make a schedule detailing when the workers would be likely to arrive at each dorm and in each room? They should have taken measures to keep students comfortable and safe -- especially those who have elected to live in a specifically designated safe space."...

Well at least they didn't call 9-1-1 on them.

How was he to know that the repairmen were not the "monsters" that Rep Cawthorn was fantasizing about?

I would have told them I have a spiral reamer so back off.

And if you could read, you'd know it was ONE student.

Piss off and go get a sense of humour.

The student was allowed to write such slop in the student paper so clearly they either have no editor no standards or see nothing wrong with what they wrote.

what's more the writer claimed that they were not alone In Their Fear of the repairmen.

Repairmen my arse, they were steamfitters.Back when I was working as one in Vancouver we had these problems all the time at UBC and SFU.You had to avoid looking at any student for more than 5 seconds as that was harassment. You could really pad up a job as the client covered the downtime so in reality they pay for it in the end.

Why couldn't they tell us precisely when the workers would be there?

Say you've never dealt with a repair technician without saying you've never dealt with a repair technician.

Why just the other day I was mowing my lawn and a cable repairman pulled up and asked me what time it was. I told him it was between 8 am and 5 pm.

The story is pointless BS centered on one troubled student.

Thread sucks, poster is an idiot.

Like this one student is echoing the behavior of plenty of other self entitled students at schools like this, the thread is fine.

It reads to me like satire, not out of place in a college paper.

#14 | Posted by Charliecharles at 2021-10-21 09:55 PM | Reply

It would make sense of a satire but then again it is Oberlin College.

East Coast colleges invented the racist, West Coast colleges invented the Junkie, and Oberlin invented the---------.

This flower is too delicate to exist in public.

I weep for the future of this country knowing it will be occupied by people like this.

I was amused with his lamentation, "Why didn't they tell us precisely when they'd be here?" LOL I ask that every time the plumber or whomever say they will be here between 1 and 6. This Oberlin snowflake is going to have a rough time in life.

"And if you could read, you'd know it was ONE student."

Them and they are now neutral singular pronouns, too. I don't like it either, but it is what it is.

"I weep for the future of this country knowing it will be occupied by people like this."

And why are people like this?

"A significant portion of students choose to live in Baldwin because they are victims of sexual assault or abuse, have suffered past invasions of privacy, or have some other reason to fear cisgender men,"

Because of the actions of cisgender men.

"Because of the actions of cisgender men."

Are you saying discrimination is a good thing?

#20 | Posted by Tor at 2021-10-22 10:10 PM | Reply

I'm saying sexual assault or abuse is a bad thing, and it's because of abusers that people are like this.

#21 | Posted by snoofy at 2021-10-22 10:11 PM | Reply

Wait I've seen thinking like this before... oh right Asian shop keeps that don't want black people in their stores because they've been robbed before.
