I hope that 9 year old wins a big settlement, why do some folks believe they get to dictate personal choices of others?

#2 In Texas it is the 1860's.

Now all we got to get is a Rastafarian or Sikh to sue them.

The funny thing is people in Texas think they have more freedom.

Several founders of the Republic of Texas, including it's second Pres... would be kicked out of school under these Rethuglicans:

My first few years in high school I would cut my hair once a year, and afterward get really odd looks when appearing with such short hair. I learned that very short hair made others more suspicious of me than when my hair was longer. Believe me, were these students to suddenly appear with shaved heads (especially the dark-skinned students) teachers, administrators and parents would freak out and be even more upset then they appear to be now...

FTA:

"Those suing the district said that punishment has caused them "immense and irreparable harm.""

Please. "Irreparable harm" for being suspended? These four kids are going to go through life psychologically damaged because of this? Even high priced shrinks won't be able to pull them out of their emotionally shattered state? LOL I hope they learned how to spell 'snowflake' before they were suspended.

Whenever I read crap like this in lawsuits of this nature, I hope and pray the plaintiff loses.

That said, the hair length aspect of Magnolia school district's dress code is stupid and unreasonable.

Already decided in Texas Appeals court in the 1970s.
Two male students v. Tyler Junior College
Registrar took it upon himself to ban students with long hair. Court ruled long hair has nothing to do with school or registration.

jakester:
in Texas, suspension usually means zeros on tests and homework. As grades directly affect GPA which directly affects college applications, I would ay that is irreparable harm.

#15 - "in Texas, suspension usually means zeros on tests and homework. "

That is not true of "in school" suspension which is what they had.

Besides, I know a lot of people who were suspended from school and 40 years later, they are psychologically well adjusted and successful members of society.

As if you're concerned about what happens to black or brown kids. I've seen some of your posts - you don't even hide your disdain.

I get that the school has to have standards but if they never had this policy before or they're selectively enforcing it that's messed up.

I hope the kid shows up with a fake beard wearing robes and a loincloth and speaking only in verse.
