LOL, sure they are ---- by targeting Billionaire "income taxes"...

While the idea of taxing the Billionaire's unrealized capital gains is a good start, it does little to fix the problem of the current billionaires likely paying nothing on a vast majority of their prior earnings by utilizing charity scams.

What the US government SHOULD DO, is to make taxes so simple that there are no loopholes for anyone. Charitable donations should have an annual cap. Tax deferred/shielded investment vehicles should be done away with - all income should be treated the same. Put capital gains rate at the earned income rates, charge an unrealized capital gains tax if held for more than 5 years. For people with estate over $1B, charge a 3% annual tax on net assets. Death tax should be simplified to passing the first $10M tax free and a 50% flat tax for every dollar thereafter. Taxes should be able to be filed on 3x5 postcard. Anyone arguing against that is either in the top 1% trying to get preferential treatment or part of the great bureaucratic waste that makes a profit off of making simple concepts complex to enrich the top 1%.

Are you sure you're a repuke? You sound like some kind of commie to me. Ira, I think you've abandoned the dark side. Come walk in the light with the Libs. It could be a new outlook for you.

And what is YOUR party doing to address income inequality?

Is that supposed to be solved by abortion bounties and replacing democracy with fascism?

"Are you sure you're a repuke?"

I am not - I am a Trump supporter - that is a world of difference with the traditional GOP.

"You sound like some kind of commie to me."

No, it is leveling the playing field. Billionaires has written rules to their benefit - we need to correct that past wrong with a wealth tax before taking on more income taxes.

I was a Democrat for years until the abandoned the US working class. Illegal immigration, globalist policies that outsource jobs, supporting tech monopolies like Amazon - this is where the Democrats went off the rails. Through in the hyper focus on dividing the country based on ethnic lines and you can see where they left myself and MLK, Jr behind.

To answer your question on the Dems - "are we the baddies?" Yes...yes you are.

Isn't Trump one of those?

"we need to correct that past wrong with a wealth tax before taking on more income taxes."

Why? Why does the order of doing things matter? Why can't we do both at the same time?

But you'll lick the balls of the guy who filled his white house with bankers and lobbyists, then gave record breaking tax cuts to the rich.

"are you the dummies?" yes you are.

Depends which side of their mouth the NYT is using that day. They tell me is simultaneously super wealthy fleecing the taxpayers while also claiming he is flat broke and owned by the Russians. So, you will have to clarify on your assumption first.

Because Washington cannot walk and chew gum at the same time. Fix the more impactful part first.

Nope, I hated Obama and his revolving door to Wall Street. Also, I was against extending the Bush tax cuts - which became the Obama tax cuts when he extended them.

You clarify. You're the one who thinks Trump is the best President of your lifetime.
You think he's the best, but you don't know if he's a billionaire, or a Russian asset, or both?

Lucky for him russia would still loan to him when all other banks realized he was a fraud.

He's way richer now than he was before you suckers started donating to him.

Putin didn't even need money to own trump. He controlled trump because they committed crimes together and he could expose trump.

It's all simply lip service to the base until Sinema and Manchin support it.

#15 | Posted by Whatsleft at 2021-10-25 03:07 PM | Reply

There are far too few billionaires for any kind of tax on them to bring in real revenue. It's a stupid talking point that Dems repeatedly trot out.
