Democratic political consultant James Carville on Wednesday bluntly pointed the finger of blame for Democrats' election losses in Virginia and beyond at what he called "this stupid wokeness."

If the Democrats had been rigging elections last year they would have made sure that this year's elections all went their way as well. Suck on that mad Bolshevik.

Not real Dems, they are hard core globalists and don't represent the left half of the democratic party at all. Carville is like the Clinton's,a has been, not a forward looking man, a relic of the empty amoral past. He has no credibility with anyone not a Dino. We just lost an election by ignoring sage Carville advice. "It's the economy stupid"

No, it's not an imaginary reinvention of the economy to being Green. People want little to no inflation and schools to be open.

If the alternative is letting insurrectionists skate, failing to protect the right to vote, and watching authoritarian Republicans take over the country anyway, is there really a difference?

See, right there, you are not Woke. If you were, your issue list would be far more thorough and intersectional. You also have to fix capitalism, the environment, income inequality, hunger, anything deemed anti-trans, nationalize oil & gas, unionize every corporation, purge monuments of white people (racists), rename "problematic" schools, and eradicate Covid.

#8 | Posted by sitzkrieg at 2021-11-05 09:24 AM | Reply

and to be honest my list is maybe 10% of what it takes to be Woke. We haven't even gotten into Big Sugar, animal rights, immigration, out-sourcing, public transport vs car culture...

Says a guy who's political ideology is a constant failure but a. fails to recognize it or b. fails to change to improve.

The Dems expect participation trophies for crafting legislation but seem always miss the fact that they have to actually pass something to get the credit.

"We're for X and have a bill to try for it" means nothing if the policy never reaches the people. And that's exactly what happens every time they take office and try to go all FDR.

Dems never pass up the opportunity to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Focus on the stuff that matters, like helping the middle class and poor.

Stop giving the righties ammunition by championing idiot phrases such as "defund the police" and by renaming schools named after Abraham Lincoln.

Let's just admit America is a far more ugly And authoritarian place than we like to believe.

Perhaps the bomb throwers and reactionaries ARE the majority. Maybe a more competent Trump who kept the economy on track would have destroyed our system from within.

Many who claim to be liberal here seem to believe that. I don't want to live in a nation obsesssed with it's material lifestyle over the earth itself and human freedoms. I won't back off of that to appease the go along with the program types here.

They have already been corrupted by the zietgiest. They have lost their way.

#16 | Posted by Effeteposer at 2021-11-05 11:36 AM | Reply

They are certainly not the majority and haven't been historically.

It's not "going along with the program" to say pass the infrastructure bill and get that program moving so you can point to it as an accomplishment.

Stop saying "we're gonna we're gonna we're gonna..." then not do any of it because you can't get every last stupid think you want.

The Dems are being hammered for that very thing right now.

I will agree with James that wokeness has in some sense gone too far, and what we saw on Tuesday was something of a backlash against it. It was also an example of message malpractice on the part of Democrats. Every single ad that the Dems ran in VA should have talked about how only one party loves democracy, there is no doubt at this point that the GQP is a pro-authoritarian party. They should have also called out all the culture wars lies that Trumpkin was using, because CRT is NOT a thing, there is NO public K-12 school in VA or any other state teaching CRT. It is strictly taught as part of certain law school curriculums. We should be encouraging the factual teaching of history in our K-12 schools, that includes the warts and all. However, as far as wokeness is concerned, I said during the 2020 election cycle that slogans like "defund the police" would cost the Dems votes in the suburbs, and it did. Residents of most suburban cities like their local police force, the cops make them feel safe, and they generally do not have bad experiences with their local cops. The same is often not true in the big cities, but the battle for the future of America will require Dems to get major turnout of their base, and then encourage suburban moms to come back to the Dems every single election. Welcome to the 24/7-365 election cycle.

Why you won't see Carville with a major role in any future presidential campaign. He is alienating the democratic base. Progressives are poised to play a larger role in the party which is going to alienate some moderates and perhaps even push them out of the party. It may even result in some election losses but that appears to be the trajectory that we are on.

Running to the left in primaries and tacking back to the center for the general may be good strategy for winning elections but not for governing. All it does is alienate the base. Furthermore, catering to the moderates because they are in swing districts means that the priorities of the base are routinely kicked to the curb. Those days are coming to an end as the number of progressives increase.

They will say it puts too much emphasis on slavery.

Slavery was required to make the United States economically viable.

They will reject that, even though you and I both know it's true and without bias.

They need slavery to be depicted as some kind of unfortunate accident, not the foundational principle it was.

This too is why they don't like CRT.

Seriously? Your American history class didn't teach you the economic reality of young America, and you haven't bothered to learn it on your own. So here's why: It's because of the factories working cotton coming out of the South, produced at far below market value, due to the slaves in the South. This is what propelled America to economic greatness.

"By 1832, textile companies made up 88 out of 106 American corporations valued at over $100,000. These textile mills, worked by free labor, nevertheless depended upon southern cotton and the vast new market economy spurred the expansion of the plantation South." courses.lumenlearning.com

Huh.

So you're asserting that the United States was at it's economic peak before the civil war?

Interesting position, given that the United States was only about 1/3 the size it would eventually become. Also begs the question why other slave-countries, such as Haiti, didn't experience the same level of economic greatness.

AOC herself is not very distinguished in actual achievement. She is very good at saying what the more experienced congressmen don't.

Still, the more experience one gets in Congress the more they seem to become sellouts to donors and the Money.

She is even becoming kind of cautious and sell out herself. Congress corrupts the people who "serve" there. It's the money and everyone always kissing their asses for it.

That and the constant opportunities for corruption. Who spends millions to get elected to a job that pays $174,000 a year?

Someone who sees it as a way to make bank.

Honestly the way the USSR explained it is probably pretty close.
Blacks are second class citizens in American society, and even though those those laws from three-fifths to sundown towns don't overtly exist any more, the legacy is as plain as the nose on your face.

And, just like the nose on your face, your brain does a good job of removing it from your field of vision.

"See in america, there's one political party that used to simply serve the ultra rich, but they couldnt get enough votes, so they also became the party of dumb angry racists. Then when that still wasn't getting them enough votes, they needed a way to terrify people into voting for them again, so they made up a term called CRT and started crying about it on all their propaganda networks at the same time, to con parents into thinking their kids were being brainwashed to hate white people, with the only solution being to elect the fascist con man party to stop this assault on their kids."

Yeah except for that part where blacks never systemically oppressed whites, great example.

Your cult is literally trying to ban "TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD" from schools. You're now into banning books that were considered classic literature for generations because your party is now run by racists who don't want kids to learn that racism happens or that it's bad, or that the criminal justice system is racist.

When your main political strategy is making white people feel like victims, you need to get rid of proof that white people were usually the offenders not the victims.

Why not just start burning the books like your predecessors in germany did?
