Tens of thousands of Ethiopians rallied in Addis Ababa on Sunday to support Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's government as federal troops fight rebellious forces threatening to march on the capital.

It's really sad what's been going on in Ethiopia the past year. I'm sure there's been human rights violations all around, but if the capital falls the rebels then the nation will effectively disintegrate, and there will be regional chaos.

Chaos?

Impossible

Ge'ez... you guys are really self-centered to the point of being xenophobic. You couldn't care less about what goes on the rest of the world unless it directly affects you or you can make a cheap political joke about it.

The US has no business in either supporting or denouncing other country's petty conflicts.

Geez
If you care so much why are you here and not there?

Taking to the internet anonymously to Karen about something isn't really doing anything other than demonstrating how an impotent POS pounds sand

#4, at what point should they say something? Should they wait until it becomes mass genocide? Or is that still a petty conflict?

#5 Your question is like asking if anyone cares so much about the topic of a thread they started why are they here and not there (whether it's Washington D.C. or Kenosha or Texas or wherever). Your comment in #2 was just dumb and pig ignorant.

#4 - genocide is not a petty conflict. Nor is it what is happening in Ethiopia.

Also, if genocide was the issue, it is a job of the UN, not the US to resolve.

The US made a statement that Ethiopia and a couple of other countries are not in compliance with a trade agreement and therefore it is effectively removing them from it. Do you object to that?

The US is a founding member and the host country of the UN. Why shouldn't it take an active interest in seeking non-military solutions to world conflicts which threaten international stability?

Did you know that Ethiopia is the host country of the African Union?

Really, so you're cool with how Bill Clinton did nothing about Rwanda?

#9 I agree. If the US isn't willing to confront bullies, it should gut its military (75% reduction) and get some actual value for the tax money.
$500 Billion a year to make microdicks feel potent is beyond embarrassing.

#12 Okay but it's a pretty small chunk of the overall picture.

We could spend zero on the military and put that all into health care and it would only cover about 20% of health care costs.

At least nine United Nations staff members and their dependents have been detained in Ethiopia's capital, according to the UN.
