Navy Tells Vaccine Refusers They Have Less Than a Week to Get the Shot, or Face Discharge
www.military.com

...Sailors who are denied a COVID-19 vaccination exemption will have five days to get their first shot or be discharged, according to a Navy administrative message released Monday.

The message, issued by the Navy's head of manpower, personnel, training and education, a three-star admiral, notes that the lowest discharge rating a vaccine-refusing sailor can receive, "without extenuating circumstances, will be GENERAL (under honorable conditions)."

The Marine Corps released a similar message Oct. 25.

The update is the latest in a series of announcements that the Navy has issued communicating its intent to vaccinate its entire force. ...

Proud of my folks for getting vax'd once it was released.
No drama. Good for their health, good for the workplace, and good for my bandwidth that I missed this drama.

The DoD is bad at using data analytics on personnel trends, but I am very curious to see the vaccine hesitancy personnel stats versus geographic location. I can envision that people at bases in states which imposed more anti-covid mandates would have been quicker on the vaccine uptake.

Essentially "get the vax and have a more normal life.

We even had a few early summer months without masks.

An interesting factoid, to be sure.

But it is overwritten by the fact that those in service to the Country are exactly that -- in service to the Country, not service to a geographic subsection of the Country.

Chain of command is not insignificant here.

Definitely agree, just can't help but also consider those outside aspects which comprise of a person's daily experience outside of work.
In this case, the leaders in the workplace have a huge influence on the individual lives, but being able to do things out in the real world is great incentive to do whatever it takes to get a normal life back.

They probably see this as a convenient way to weed out the ----- ass snowflakes.

Considered.

But not relevant.

Service to Country is exactly that.

No more, no less.

If a Private deems a legal order from a General to be vaccinated to be invalid, that is not an insignificant problem. (understatement)

Chain of Command is very significant. It is essential to the functioning of a military.

Sadly, 30-40% of Americans either don't consider that incentive enough or they just don't care.

Strange.

I never realized that vaccines were even remotely optional. Either you got them or you were dismissed from service.

The military is not a good career choice if you don't like vaccines. And the COVID vaccine is a bit of a joke. The Anthrax vaccine...that ------------ kills people. Still gotta take it.

"Cashier them all. Losers."

Aren't you concerned they might all become highwaymen or other species of brigand?

I couldn't care less about COVID. The shot for me (and everyone else I know) was nothing more than a key that allows access to travel and leisure. If it helps reduce the effects of COVID, that's cool too.

Years ago when I was in the USN. No one asked me if I wanted shots or even what they were before done.

Anthrax vaccine never killed anyone, liar.

I wonder how many, who after a little time in find that the military life is not for them, and will use this as an 'easy out' of their commitment.

There are about to be a whole lot of bitter ex-military in this country. Not only is it career ending but there goes all your benefits. Tuition and the like. I don't understand the fact they get an honorable discharge however. They are being discharged after refusing commands. These p-----s will take a bullet but are afraid of an extremely safe vaccine?

They should be expected to pay the government all the money it took to train them.
