Jonathan Karl's Betrayal focuses on the final year of Donald Trump's presidency, and while it's hardly the first book out this year to capture the tumult of 2020, it is an indication that the bombshells and revelations from that White House will continue well into the future

Trump doesn't act like he's going to run. He has too much baggage.

But he does act like somebody who want to keep his name in the ring to scare off anybody else who is thinking about running. The object being, of course, Trump wants to pick the nominee of HIS choice.

He's such an insecure control freak I'm sure he wants to control not only the nominee but every twist and turn of the 2024 election.

Which is why you see both DeSantis and Abbott in a contest to out-Trump each other. Although knowing Trump as we do, he probably has a dark horse in the wings who hasn't been beat to death by the media already. That would leave DeSantis and Abbott out in the cold, feeling mortally stabbed in the back with no governorship to fall back onto.

If Trump runs again their greatest challenge will be not to write like Hunter S Thompson coming down after a week-long bender. I can hear it now: the horrible Babylonian Beast is back in Action folks! That's right the illegitimate usurping baboon who tried to violate every civil rights he could has once again hoisted himself onto the American public and looking to rail every one of us!

So you're saying the journalists should not write the truth?

/sarcasm (but only a little...)

Trump won't run because he's afraid of Stern.

@#7 ... Trump won't run ...

I'm not convinced of that at this point. And maybe fmr Pres trump has not decided. Yet...

Trump poll tests his 2024 comeback map
www.politico.com

...As Donald Trump builds out a presidential-campaign-in-waiting, his team is focusing on an electoral strategy that relies on recapturing the five states that flipped to Joe Biden in 2020.

The five states " Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin " delivered a total of 73 electoral votes in 2020, enough to produce a decisive Electoral College victory for Biden. Since then, Trump has held four rallies, endorsed dozens of candidates and played a key role in shaping contests that could put his allies in top offices in those states in 2024.

Trump's shadow campaign also recently polled Trump-Biden matchups in the five states, all of which were decided in 2020 by fewer than 3 percentage points. According to the poll, a memo of which was obtained by POLITICO, the former president led Biden in Arizona by 8 percentage points, Georgia by 3 points, Michigan by 12 points, Pennsylvania by 6 points and Wisconsin by 10 points....

LAMP

I can't put too much stock in poll numbers that Trump gathered himself or what any "shadow campaign" told him. He thought he was winning in 2020, too, because his pollsters told him what he wanted to hear. Whether he runs or he supports a mini-me candidate, Trump learned the hard way that polls numbers, real or otherwise, aren't necessarily the best prediction he can rely upon. Cheating works much better. Especially if the 24 hr news cycle starts to focus on his legal baggage about the same time.

Anyway,

2024 is too far away to start making predictions. But it's NOT too far away to start a propaganda campaign with his own fake poll numbers.

If we've learned nothing else from Trump's past performance, we've certainly learned that we can't believe a single word, deed or claim of superiority that comes out of his political organization.

The choice may not be his to make. It's the GOP who is engineering this destruction of democracy and I'm not sure they care who gets the job done . . . as long as it gets done.

They'd have to be blind not to recognize that Trump's mounting legal baggage is a threat to their long term goal.

I checked... he was spouting off today about how Lewzer would have had a vaccine for the Omicron variant by now.

#2 - I would disagree about Dotard keeping his name in the ring to be able to pick a successor, I think it's all about the money. As long as nobody else has the guts to throw their hats in the ring, that makes more money available for his PAC. As soon as people like DeathSentence and Noem announce their campaigns, they bleed off those donations. Combover Quisling wants 100% of Presidential donations pouring into his coffers.

It does not matter what you think of the numbers or who is doing the polling for him.

It matters only what fmr Pres Trump thinks, for he is the one who will be deciding whether or not he runs again.

We have very few real journalists left in this country. An overwhelming majority of them reside at "Substack".

It's too early, LAMP. As I also pointed out, poll numbers don't mean squat this far out. At least not the real ones.

The presses' biggest challenge re Trump is telling the truth. Every time the press spins and twists the truth, normal clear thinking Real Americans recognize it for what it is and the feet dig in deeper.
How about giving credit where credit is due and stop trying to convince us that Trump is a baaad Awng Mahn.
