Unless Moderna's strategy includes distribution to non-wealthy countries or opening up the intellectual property so others can they're just blowing profiteering smoke.

Just another product to sell only to those who can afford it, all but guaranteeing another product might be necessary in the future.

Just yesterday they were saying that tweaking the current vaccines shouldn't be a problem. Maybe they meant it shouldn't be a problem for their bottom line.

Try this: announce a phony rally featuring the Previous Guy and his children at some indoor sports arena in a Red State. Promise free beer to the first 10,000 attendees and free t-shirts for the gals with the witty sayings of Mrs. Bobert and Taylor Green. Open the doors, scent the air with new car smell so all attendees breathe deeply. Forbid masks and have all stand shoulder to shoulder. After a few hours, announce that travel issues require the cancellation of the event. Let everyone out, thank them for attending, and wait two weeks. Problem solved ...
