"I have an idea. Why not have your minions attack the Capital and hang Mike Pence and Nancy Pelosi!

That would delay the transfer of power for sure boss!"

Future generations, centuries from now, will think the historical record over-states what a smarmy, treacherous loser Donald Trump was. Because no one human being could ever be that bad. Except that he is.

The only people who don't understand what was at risk on 1/6 are the willingly ignorant.

Charge the Orangeman with insurrection! Why does Garland sit around when we have the Orangeman begging for a coup?
At least STOP the fascist from running again. Garland is worthless, pretty much a fascist given his predilection of going after parents! Only fascist go after parents and avoid the 800lb elephant in the room.

"The only people who don't understand what was at risk on 1/6 are the willingly ignorant."

There is a lot of those people sorry to say.

Will they? Lets see what the Whitehouse says about Trump.

I'm more of the opinion that future generations will know as much about Trump, as the current generation knows about Franklin Pierce.

If you are wondering about how the official Whitehouse history of GWB goes, suffice to say the word "water" does not appear anywhere.

Here's a brief excerpt from "The Guardian" which may explain why the House Committee is having difficulty confirming the phone calls from the White House to the Willard Hotel:

"Trump made several calls the day before the Capitol attack from both the White House residence, his preferred place to work, as well as the West Wing, but it was not certain from which location he phoned his top lieutenants at the Willard Hotel.

The White House residence and its Yellow Oval Room " a Trump favorite " is significant since communications there, including from a desk phone, are not automatically memorialized in records sent to the National Archives after the end of an administration."

Which leaves the House Committee lacking direct confirmation of the calls. And nobody in that room at the Willard is talking.

The theory here is that Trump was searching for fresh ideas on how to stop the certification?

Is it a good idea to push such a narrative?

If you want Trump firmly attached to 1/6 then evidence he was frantically searching for "fresh" ideas hours before the attack could be used to distance him from 1/6.

"If he was behind 1/6 then why the frantic calls for ideas?

@#10 ... If you want Trump firmly attached to 1/6 then evidence he was frantically searching for "fresh" ideas hours before the attack could be used to distance him from 1/6. ...

If he were looking for fresh ideas, maybe it was because he was seeing all his prior ideas not working as well as he had expected.

I don't see that as distancing him from 1/6, I see it as emphasizing and reinforcing his role in 1/6.

If Trump planned 1/6 and it was to be carried out per his instructions......then why the need for fresh ideas?

I'm just playing devils advocate.

EBERLY -

It was a sign of true desperation. He was throwing everything including the kitchen sink at the matter. Sending in the mob basically takes the job out of his hands, beyond his control. In his mind, probably a last ditch effort while the other procedural avenues he deemed probably more effective than brute force at the hands of his supporters.

Trump thought there was more than one way to skin a cat and he was so desperate to stay POTUS he was going to make sure every method was accounted for and utilized.

Simple desperation undermines your devil's advocate argument.

"It was a sign of true desperation."

Yes, especially since he told his aides at the Whittaker Hotel his Plan "A", (Mike Pence), wasn't going to cooperate

Fresh ideas indeed. Trump was desperate for Plan B, C and D.

Keep in mind - it was not carried out per his instructions. His instruction was for Pence to NOT certify the vote. Pence was at least man enough to stand up to the bully certify and say he would certify the vote. (Not for the right reasons of course, just because he didn't see a legal way not to...)

We haven't forgotten GALAXIEPETE.

Pence is no great hero. He woulda if he coulda.

I'd like to see the House Committee issue a subpoena with his name on it.

"then why the need for fresh ideas?"

You want us to Trumpsplain the thinking of a traitorous President who was involved in sedition by inciting an insurrection that was planning to attack his own government? All in order to prevent Congress from certifying Biden as President thereby instigating the first violent transfer of Presidential power in US history?

It's just more evidence that it was a conspiracy to undermine our democratic processes with Trumpy at the center of the web.

He was a desperate man, trying to stay one step ahead of his criminal acts, for whom nothing was working. The lawsuits were a joke because they were unable to produce evidence of any fraud never mind massive fraud that could turn an election, his strong arming of GA, AZ, and MI didn't work, the vote was about to be certified and he was running out of options. At this point all that was left was the Eastman memo where Pence recognizes competing slates of fake Dotard electors, which would send the vote to the house where the GQP would help Dotard subvert the people's will and steal the election. The only way to do that was to convince Pence against his will, or let the mob kill Pence and Nancy Pelosi so that Combover Quisling could declare martial law, and name a successor who WOULD help him steal the election. Desperate times called for desperate measures, so as a last resort he wound up the mob and pointed them at Pence and the Capitol. You look at his tweets during the insurrection, he was aiming the mob at Pence, he knew exactly what he was doing. Some Drumpf sycophant held up the military response that would have quelled the mob, and let the Capitol cops and the DC cops be overrun by Dotard's traitors.
