NPR looked at deaths per 100,000 people in roughly 3,000 counties across the U.S. from May 2021, the point at which vaccinations widely became available. People living in counties that went 60% or higher for Trump in November 2020 had 2.7 times the death rates of those that went for Biden. Counties with an even higher share of the vote for Trump saw higher COVID-19 mortality rates.

In October, the reddest tenth of the country saw death rates that were six times higher than the bluest tenth, according to Charles Gaba, an independent health care analyst who's been tracking partisanship trends during the pandemic and helped to review NPR's methodology.

Obligatory.

What's up with the Ghana flag with a pot leaf on it lol?

Great visualization. Tells a very sad story. Did this kind of thing happen during Spanish Flu?

It looks like the "overall average" favors Biden by just a smidge. I suppose that ought to give me a faint glimmer of hope...

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Chlorinating the gene pool is a good thing. I just never thought they would rush to self chlorinate to own the libs.

GOP: We refuse to wear a mask and get vaccinated.

Also the GOP: Why hasn't Biden beat the virus yet?

#8 Can we gerrymander around this COVID death situation?

Unfortunately, the complacent Democrats have allowed Republicans to do exactly that.

It is a good thing. The problem is that the Rs swamp the health care system and cost us all a lot of money trying to keep them alive. Meanwhile people die of preventable conditions because all of the ERs are full of anti vaxxers.

Look, I have no empathy for these people. My good friend on the ventilator (hopefully coming off today) is conservative but he had the vaccinations and his booster (late on the booster) but those around him are all anti-vaxxers. No fixing that.

A guy that works for me just lost his brother last night - vaccinated but with Cancer. Tragically brought to you by selfish Anti-vaxxers everywhere.

But if you ask the anti-vaxxers, they'll tell you how suspicious it is that the patriots are the first to die. "Somethin' ain't addin' up," they'll say. "Natural immunity, that's all ya need!"

Good One. I live in Texas we are counting on more republican covid deaths in order to beat Abbot next year. Polls have Beto and Abbott in a dead heat.

It's only getting worse.

197,000 new cases yesterday

1,351 COVID deaths

And thanks to morons who refuse to get vaxxed or wear a mask, we'll be in this pandemic for a long time.

"Pro-life?" BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!

This story has been updated to clarify the relationship of political partisanship to vaccination status.
Additionally,
Florida's counties were removed from the analysis after publication because we learned that Florida has not updated county-level death numbers since June 3, 2021.
