The curious omission of a notorious social media site in the FBI criminal case files on Jan. 6

MFA:

In the several hundred criminal cases brought against individuals involved in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, the Department of Justice and FBI have included scores of incriminating communications posted by defendants on social media sites including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Parler. That makes even more conspicuous the near complete absence of any reference in the government documents to another public social media site " The Donald, where much of the Capitol attack was planned.

On Dec. 19, 2020, at 1:42 a.m. EST, then President Donald Trump tweeted, "Statistically impossible to have lost the 2020 Election. Big protest in D.C. on January 6th. Be there, will be wild!" Within five minutes after Trump's tweet, a user on The Donald posted: "Trump Tweet. Daddy says be in DC on Jan. 6th." The site's moderators pinned the post to the top of the homepage where it remained until the morning of Jan. 6, 2021, attracting nearly 6,000 comments and 24,000 upvotes.

It was the first of thousands of posts and comments on the site related to Jan. 6. Users of The Donald declared that Trump's tweet about Jan. 6 was "marching orders," and one user interpreted a video from Dan Scavino--a well known figure to the communit--as "literal war drums." "The capitol is our goal," posted another user. "Everything else is a distraction. Every corrupt member of congress locked in one room and surrounded by real Americans is an opportunity that will never present itself again."

Tracking the reaction on The Donald, SITE Intelligence Group, an organization that monitors political extremism, explained that "the general consensus among the users was that Trump had essentially tweeted permission to disregard the law in support of him."

Also of note:

The FBI's now widely known "Norfolk report"--sent to law enforcement agencies on the evening of Jan. 5 and warning of threats of violence the following day--was reportedly based on communications on The Donald. The intelligence report cited a thread discussing "being ready for war," calling to "get violent" at the Capitol, and saying "Congress needs to hear glass breaking, doors being kicked in," as well as users' sharing a map of the Capitol's underground tunnels and identifying rendezvous points.

And from a tweet by one of the article's authors:

6. For weeks, users discussed techniques, tactics and procedures in advance of the attack, including

materials and measurements for guillotine
how to snap a person's neck
how to use a flagpole as "very effective weapon"

Because, you know, tourists!

#5 | Posted by snoofy at 2021-12-07 01:07 AM | Reply

We can speculate all kinds of suspicious reasons without ever hitting the mark.

I agree that it certainly looks strange along with all the other tweets that prove breaking into the Capitol Building wasn't even remotely spontaneous.

Perhaps this is a question that should be answered by [then] FBI Director Chris Wrey if or when he gets a subpoena from the House Committee.

#6 | Posted by Twinpac at 2021-12-07 03:35 AM | Reply

My own speculation goes as follows (just following the cookie crumbs) keeping in mind that Trump was still president throughout the FBI investigation:

Christopher Wrey had a boss. Acting AG Jeff Rosen

Jeff Rosen had a boss President Donald Trump

Rosen was fearful of the rumor that Jeffrey Clark was conspiring with Donald Trump to replace him.

Therefore, it was Trump who bullied Rosen . . . who bullied Wrey to delete any mention of Trump's social media site, "The Donald."

BTW, Rosen has already given a deposition to the House Committee so we don't know what, if anything, was brought up about this particular caper. Clark, OTOH is claiming the 5th.

RIGHT/TRITE

I'm not so concerned about Trump going to prison. I know better than to pin my hope on that.

I'll be happy if the DOJ and the IRS breaks him into a thousand pieces, personally, emotionally, politically and financially, including all his assets both real and liquid, including those of his children and all the partners and officers of Trump Org and all the shell companies Trump uses.

I want to see him deserted, broken, beat, bankrupt, powerless and begging for someone to answer his phone calls.

There are things worse than prison for the likes of Donald Trump I just named them all . . . except Melania jumping ship to marry a rich, if somewhat elderly, Saudi royal.

Twin, my dear, you reaaaaalllllyyyy need to take your head out of the sand. All of these wonderful things you think or expect to happen to ------- simply will not happen.

What will happen is he will be nominated by the republican party as their presidential candidate and then will (one way or another) win come Nov. 2024. Or do you think all the things the republicans have been doing vis a vis voting are to benefit Biden?

The dems had their chance early 2021. They dropped the ball.

You better hope ------- suffers a massive heart attack. That is about the only thing that will keep him out of the WH in 2025.

Or are you still counting on the SDNY? Their investigation raps up in a couple weeks. The IRS? Ain't gonna touch him. GA? Give me a break.

Face it, 1/6 was the best opportunity to stop him.

Dems dropped the ball.

The HoR investigation is just another investigation that will go nowhere-like every single investigation for the past 50 years.

But you keep believing.

I don't think this is true.

I couldn't wait to vote for Biden in order to get rid of the idiot extremist. But all I got for my trouble was a president favoring different idiot extremists. And the idiot extremists Biden is in bed with are worse in my estimation. Maybe not by much, but still worse.

So unless Biden has a come to Jesus moment and tells the progressive left to go ---- off, I'll be voting for someone other than Joe Biden

Trimming the spending bill by more than 50% didn't tell them that?

SNOOFY

I've come to believe that ALL spending bills have "built in" cuts so the opposition feels like they at least got something in return for their vote.

It's a little game of "negotiation" they play with each other so the opposition can go home and face their constituents.

It's also why Trump was such a failure. He was greedy. As it turned out the "world's bestest negotiator" didn't know the first thing about negotiating.

In the end I think President Biden got exactly what he wanted. It's called winning.

A man recently compared Trump's situation to a man holding a bag of water. When the bag goes, everything goes.

The Georgia case is in the hands of a Grand Jury. I suppose they could No Bill him. I don't think that's why the DA convened it.

Times are rough; times are bad. But within living memory, German submarines were sinking American ships within sight of Florida beaches.

You live in interesting times and I'm sorry for that. I feel sorry for myself sometimes, also. But curling up into a cynical ball in the middle of the Interstate will merely prove that the things you fear come true.

Which is exactly where Donald Trump wants us to be. Truthy has a weakness of character. He has succumbed.

Trimming the spending bill by more than 50% didn't tell them that? ~Snoofy

It was part of the negotiations, they knew they wouldn't get it they first asked for, they also knew it would make Biden look centrist.

Win-Win.

Truthy's "Woe is us. All hope is lost. America is doomed" tells me that he's deeply depressed.

I see that all across this website, just look at Snoofy's snark, or Zed's doom and gloom, they seem to have no clue as to whats going on, only useful for the whataboutism tribalism.

Why are we talking about Trump? He won't even be relevant in 2024.

What happens in Georgia is of no consequence in the grand scheme. What matters is the plethora of his former administration officials who will plea bargain him under the bus to save themselves after they've been indicted and facing consequences.

What do you think Mark Meadows is bargaining for right this very minute? He'll squeal like a pig for the right price.

That's what the House Committee is all about. They're eyes are on 2024.

What happens in New York State is a civil matter unless it rolls over to federal banking fraud after the NY D.A. gets through with him.

Oh, and that $1 Billion Dollars Trump claims to have is just on paper. He doesn't actually have a billion dollars and probably won't have after the SEC gets involved. Some, if not all, of his anonymous "investors" will scatter like rats on a sinking ship to keep their names out of it.

Trump is more into swarmy get rich quick schemes. He doesn't have the business head to run anything long term.

Let's be frank,

Twin's is the best case scenario

Truth's (hopefully) is the worst case scenario

We don't know what's in between, that's called life, or reality, or the present.

Just stay in the moment and do everything you can to steer the present to it's best possible outcome.

Get involved. Volunteer. Run for a public office. Do what the insurrectionists are doing ... get involved in the elections process. Get on your local school board. Stand up and be heard. There are so many things you CAN do. Besides giving up or just blogging. Use your writing skill to write letters to your local newspaper. Letters to Congress.

They are using their hate and anger energize themselves into action.

Use your love of country and your fellow man to energize yourself to stand up to the hateful world they are trying to create.

If you have a chance use it! If you have the energy ... use it!

"Aye, fight and you may die. Run and you'll live -- at least a while. And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take our freedom!!!"

A rock may conquer scissors but love conquers hate. But not if good men and women do nothing.

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evils of Trumpy is for good men to do nothing,"

Now, now, now Twin, I get it, you are upset that I point out the fallacy at looking for justice through the dems actions.

But, hey, we are on the same side.

Dems should have come down hard and decisive immediately after 1/6. They didn't. They dragged it out until justice is meaningless. None of your hopes of getting ------- or the leaders of the insurrection will come to pass. I'm sorry that is a simple fact.

What will prevent ------- from running again in 2024? (Could have been a successful impeachment)

What will prevent ------- from winning the republican nominee? (Could have been a very, very long impeachment trial)

What will prevent ------- from winning the presidential election? I want you to think long and hard on this. While it doesn't appear so, Biden won by a slim margin. A margin that republicans are doing all in their power to assure doesn't happen again. (Could have been actually protecting voting rights-EVERYTHING else is secondary to this btw)
