Sad, and a waste of time.

Emmett Till's murder marks a turning point away from backwoods lynchings toward a time when even the dead have stories.

It was not a waste of time to investigate a Civil Rights crime that could have set a precedent even in the backwoods.

Doug Jones was able to bring the 16th Street bombers to justice before they died. In this case the guilty are probably dead.

#2 The media coverage of Emmett Till's murder did that, I can agree with that. Not that I was alive to see it.

The media coverage of Rodney King... didn't seem to quite have the same effect.

The impact of seeing Emmett Till's bullet-riddled body is why I think the media did us a horrible disservice by not running the photographs of the 20 children slaughtered at Newtowm.

Think of the impact that could have made.
