Will it have a Google interface to pipe advertisements directly into a person's brain? That is, advertisements the the person wants to experience based upon the brain activity fed to Google from the implant.

Too creepy. Musk can go first.

Well the hyperloop was announced, what - 10 years ago? There's something - a little test 'track" in LA, but it's pretty slow from what I hear. Is it still running?
Yeah, I wouldn't want to be first, either.

You don't get a hyperloop. You get underground tubes with human driven Teslas that are massively less efficient than just using trams or a train, and it only goes from a parking lot to a convention center.

The 130+ year old vactrain gets kicked around every few decades.

It sounds like the focus is on medical treatment for spinal injuries at this juncture. Exploring for new ways in which the brain can be prompted to heal the body.

It does seem like we are heading towards a society where holding a smartphone becomes antiquated because you can just use the web with your mind. I just don't see Musk being the guy who gets it done; he has a history of bluster and overpromise.

Not in my brain thank you very much.

But I would volunteer go to Mars. If he would train me. The problem is I probably couldn't work for him. He sounds like a real a- hole for a boss. Been there done that. Not doing it anymore. Not that I will be young enough by the time he or his company solves his "starship" engine problems anyway.

But it would probably be a one way trip so it will probably be better to send people whose lives are almost over and they also have to have to mental fortitude to survive the long trip in a tin can cooped up with other humans.

Being one of the first humans to step foot on Mars would definitely look good on my permanent record. Even if it was the last thing on my record it would still be very cool. Better than shooting Pancho Villa in the leg and chasing him back to Mexico which my great great grandfather's claim to fame.

Joe: I disagree. He has pushed several technologies much further ahead and much faster than otherwise might have occurred. I wish the world had 100 more people just like him. Though it is true he does spout a lot of bluster and bull****.

True, but you can't ignore the fact that his bluster and overpromise goes from zero to sixty in 2.9 seconds.

They say that "madness and genius are old lovers",
at least I remember reading that somewhere once.
And I think it is true about Musk. The man is undeniably
genius. One only need to listen to him talk in one
of his many videos on YouTube. But I've also seen some
of his videos (again on YouTube) where he is borderline
paranoid, worried to death about 'aliens living amongst us
already' and 'the androids and cyborgs and A.I.'s are coming
to get us'...

I'm rooting that he stays a genius, that he solves some of our
problems, but if history is any judge (and I think it is),
madness 'comes a calling' to many of these types.

Lyrics excerpt:

...
I dreamed a lot when I was younger
I'm older now and still I hunger
For some understanding
There's no understanding, now
Was there ever?

One thin line
Draws the border
Between madness And the genius
But no pen can erase it
So we keep these things Between us

It's fun, but the Italians have made fast, low quality cars for decades and charging premium prices for it. Silly point though, nobody said you can't make an electric car by buying a company that already makes electric cars. Also, the real metric used to measure vehicle performance is 0-100-0. or 0-160-0 if you prefer metric. A Rimac can do 0-60mph in 2 (less on slicks), but ask Richard Hammond how well it stops lol.

The bluster, overpromise, and flat out highdeas are something else entirely lol. It's supposed to be made by a factory so fast it has to run in a vacuum to prevent air friction overheats, then drive itself coast to coast autonomously, making you money while you sleep, without the LIDAR standard in autonomous driving, skipping traffic entirely through a Musk built network of underground elevators and tunnels whos excavation materials would be used to build affordable housing, no downtime since it will be be supported by a network of battery swap stations faster and more competitive than gasoline fueling stations, a Tesla roof powering your autonomous snake charger that plugs the car in for you, watching freight pass by being pulled by Tesla semis. The promise of Tesla was no less than a total revolution in global manufacturing, overturning the combined experience, technological and economic prowess of the US, Germany, Japan, UK, France, Korea, Italy, China, and India. What a let down. It's just cars with quality on par with Maserati.

Hey, my southern Italian roots have an issue with your comment.

Aside from that... yup.

OK... to elaborate a bit more.

The Tesla cars seem to have a very high issue with, ummmm, problems.

The huge underlying problem is that there is not a dealer network to help deal with those problems.

So what do you do? Call up Mr Musk and ask him to email to a UPS shipping able to return the car back to wherever for repairs?

And now, btw, Mr Musk is putting video games on the dashboard display? What (actually, WTF) is up with that? As if Tesla drivers have not been paying attention to the road ...

Tesla's in-dash video games can be played even while driving

Full Self Driving has been 2 years away for at least 8 years.

The offers to work on Tesla FSD AI are excellent. The staff churn is terrifying.
