The House panel investigating the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol insurrection requested an interview with Republican Rep. Scott Perry of Pennsylvania on Monday, marking the first time the committee publicly sought to interview a sitting member of Congress.

SOP for interviewing people connected with crimes is to begin at the fringe and work in towards the suspects. What we are seeing now is the fringe players that might have knowledge of others.

How much later Honey BoBo and Large Marge are interviewed will indicate how much they are involved. I fully expect them to lawyer up and refuse to testify.

Rep. Scott Perry denies Jan. 6 panel's request for interview

...Republican Rep. Scott Perry of Pennsylvania on Tuesday rebuffed a request for him to sit down for an interview and turn over documents to the House panel investigating the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol insurrection, joining other allies of former President Donald Trump in trying to stonewall the committee.

"I stand with immense respect for our Constitution, the Rule of Law, and the Americans I represent who know that this entity is illegitimate, and not duly constituted under the rules of the US House of Representatives," Perry said in a statement....

Time for another dramatic reading of texts from election day 2020 forward to inauguration day 2021. Start with this piker Perry. Read the names and phone numbers of those with whom he communicated, so as to out as many of the criminal element as possible.

I suspect that (1) the phone companies complied with the subpoenas from the 1/6 committee, and did so prontodente, and (2) the committee has much more information on hand than they are letting the world know about. The dim bulbs involved with the insurrection are only now coming to realize that the committee has a lot of their communications. (Having been on criminal juries where text message records were introduced as evidence, there is a surprising amount that can be gleaned from receipt of these records.)

Perry and others like him who are not yet cooperating with the committee may be sealing their political fates. Imagine trying to answer, with a straight face, a debate question such as "Donald Trump said that if one is innocent one need not plead 'the fifth', and so why didn't you follow the advice of your political leader and hero?" Or "Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy washed his hands of Republican involvement in the 1/6 committee and now you claim the committee is not legitimate. Explain why this is not an attempt to have it both ways."
