I was going to say, "well, he [Dr Fauci] was not wrong."

Considering what Sen Rand has been doing to Dr Fauci...

In a Fiery Hearing, Fauci Accuses Senator Rand Paul of Fueling Threats Against His Life
www.bloomberg.com

...Anthony Fauci, President Joe Biden's chief medical adviser on the pandemic, lashed out at Senator Rand Paul, accusing the Kentucky Republican of distorting his mission and fueling death threats against him and his family.

At a hearing of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee on Tuesday, Fauci said Paul claimed he was "responsible for the death of 4 to 5 million people, which is really irresponsible."

"What happens when he gets out and accuses me of things that are completely untrue is that all of a sudden it kindles the crazies out there, and I have threats upon my life, harassment of my family and my children with obscene phone calls because people are lying about me," the government's top infectious disease specialist said....

When what is now called covid was first discovered it was called the "novel coronavirus" because scientists had never seen it before. They based recommendations on similar bugs that had seen. They were very clear that this is what they were doing. As they got to know it they discovered that this new virus was different from others they had seen. And so their recommendations changed. Unless you're really dense this is not hard to understand.

@#4 ... Is this the same guy who says to follow the science while flip flopping on everything from whether people should wear masks to whether or not a vaccine was doable within a year? ...

Wow, you really need to update your talking points.

The comment I quoted is so fall 2020.

Really.

That aside...

Dr Fauci said that the general public should not wear masks in the early days of the pandemic because (and this is the part usually left out of the Republican talking points) he said that the scarce medical masks would be better used by medical people.

Once the supply of medical masks met the demand, Dr Fauci was saying that everyone should wear a mask.

Regarding whether or not a vaccine would be doable in a year, he was relying the information given to him by the vaccine makers.

So, I gotta ask, why do you seem to object so strongly to Dr Fauci given appropriate updates regarding the enemy virus that is attacking us on our home soil?

Really.

Why?

@#7 ... it was called the "novel coronavirus" because scientists had never seen it before. ...

I don't usually get this precise, but in this instance I need to.

Your comment states... it was called the "novel coronavirus" because scientists had never seen it before."

That is not correct.

The correct statement would be... it was called a "novel coronavirus" because scientists had never seen it before. "

"Novel coronavirus" is not a term applied to just this virus (definite article) but to viruses before a name is decided upon.

Novel coronavirus
en.wikipedia.org

...Novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a provisional name given to coronaviruses of medical significance before a permanent name is decided upon. ...
