The numbers: Consumer prices rose 0.5% in December to push the increase in the cost of living last year to a nearly 40-year high of 7%, indicating high U.S. inflation is likely to persist well into 2022.

"The Federal Reserve, the nation's inflation watchdog"

Watchdog is a funny term for the bank that prints money and causes inflation...

Unemployment is lowest in 50 years. Wages are up under Biden, stock market is the highest ever, which is something Orange Adolf and his followers couldn't stop talking about when he was in office. All while trying to fight a pandemic at the same time.

"That pushed the increase over the past 12 months to 5.5% "

IOW, inflation wasn't 7% last year, it WOULD BE 7% if the current number became constant. "Surges to 7%" shows the author is cherry-picking parameters.

According to inflation calculator, it's 4.7% averaged across 2022. It's political doom in the next election.

Corporations are using the corporate media doom stories of "catastrophic inflation" to raise prices even more while simultaneously declare record profits and increase dividends, stock buybacks and CEO pay.

Inflation numbers are cooked and the inflation felt by most people is much higher than the official number. Did you buy food, housing or energy in 2021?

Hard to blame rent hikes on The Fed printing money. The landlords own those properties, financed at pre inflation rates.

It's just greed. Like Eberly says.

Thanks, Capitalism!

Here the state appraises the property. Every year the value goes up so they can collect a higher tax revenue and seize any properties that don't pay. That inflation is always passed on to renters.

Can anyone ripping Biden for inflation tell me what specific Biden policies led to this (showing your work, of course) and then explain why we should not have had that policy?

Thanks!

There isn't enough time in the day to list them all. How about free money and failure to pro-actively shore up the supply chain?

How about free money...

Did he put his tacky signature on the cheques?

#14 | Posted by REDIAL at 2022-01-13 11:16 AM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

How about free money

Which free money policies were initiated by the Biden administration?

Did free money under Trump cause inflation? Why or why not?

and failure to pro-actively shore up the supply chain

What proactive measures should he have or have not taken?

#15 | Posted by JOE at 2022-01-13 11:38 AM | Reply

I don't know Joe, what do you think he should have done? Do you think he reacted quickly and effectively? It seems it only became an issue for the administration when the news media noticed it was an issue.

Dems said they could control covid. That has been proven wrong. Dems said they can unite the country. That has been proven wrong. Regardless of the reasons behind it, they have been proven wrong. Accept the loss, just like you want Reps to accept their losses.

Here's an example of how bad logic is used but is done by both sides.

1. Up to the election, experts said there would be an up-front number for Trump but then later in the night the mail-in votes and others would create a surge for Biden and it would come down to the wire to know who won.
That came true. So the experts were correct without discussing any other aspects of the entire situation.

2. Up to the inflation numbers, experts said increasing pay for Americans would cause inflation.
That came true. So the experts were correct without discussing any other aspects of the entire situation.

One of those you will undoubtedly agree with and the other you won't. When you start saying, "but what about..." towards the statement you don't like, you IMMEDIATELY need to do that with the statement you do like. THAT is true objectivity and will help this country tremendously if they start practicing that. And then holding their side accountable for every question.

Can't control COVD when only 50% of------------- voters are vaccinated. Some people just need to succumb.

#23 | Posted by jpw at 2022-01-13 02:20 PM | Reply

He should use the time machine you expected Trump to have had in order to stop the pandemic.

Though in Biden's case the link between money supply and inflation is well documented and anyone near the port would have noticed all those ships piling up. But they didn't and that's ok because Branden may be a fool but he's your fool.

The part in this whole story that none of
the corporately owned news stations are reporting on of course, is how the Titans of Commerce and the owners of all the stores we shop at, have made billions during Covid (indeed over the last decade), but when they see their own expenses go up, these same billionaires are 'all too happy' to raise their prices through the roof and bilk every last dime they can get from the consumer.

And they show no signs of being willing to lower their prices once again after the pandemic is over...

I couldn't care less if the inflation is Biden's fault

Yes, you people don't care about anything. It gets in the way of doing anything moral or useful.

Tell us what else you don't care about. See if you can surprise us.

Hmmm...let's see. I don't care about people dying from illegal immigrants. I don't care that fentanyl is killing people in massive amounts. I don't care that people's lives are getting destroyed because they have an opinion about something that the other party doesn't.

Oh, wait, that's what Dems don't care about.

Hypocrites just won't die. :-(

This country is doomed. I don't see a good outcome. People are divided into irrational armed camps. It's like the English civil wars.

Cromwell's coming. No one will be happy then.

If you cared about fentanyl deaths you wouldnt vote for the party that just wants to cut all government ability to fix problems. You'd vote for people who want to fund addiction treatment and universal health care.

How do you "die from illegal immigrants?" Like you're trampled by a cindo de mayo parade?

Spreading a disease, anti-science propaganda, and getting people killed isn't an OPINION, it's an ACTION. Since when shouldn't people be held accountable for their actions?
