Michael Gerson: When the future judges our political present, it will stand in appalled, slack-jawed amazement at the willingness of GOP leaders to endanger the lives of their constituents ...

Take out the word Covid on the heading, and you have the correct sentence.

"The GOP Celebration of Ignorance is an Invitation to Death"...

this applies to several things.

Their understanding of COVID and diseases in general...
Their understanding of the ramifications of Global Warming and Climate Change...
even their understanding of civil rebellion and the ramifications if the U.S. military is forced to act.

Ignorance is stupidity, the GOP is a stupid party, if you are in the GOP
you worship stupidity, and are therefore stupid yourself.

Even trump has finally done the math that he can't win if his supporters are all dead.

But he poisoned their minds too deeply and they wont obey his orders to stop killing themselves.

Love it.

I'd still like to see some studies of the brain to figure out why both sides cling so incessantly to new topics that they completely ignore logic when addressing those topics with others. Covid is an issue to deal with but Dems are treating it as if it is killing the entire world. Yet, all of the numbers point to it being a typical pandemic that has happened MANY times throughout history. And guess what...there will be more. And until we find a new type of vaccine, or whatever it will be called in the future, that can completely eradicate novel viruses, it doesn't matter how much you do during the first throes of it, it will still spread and will still cause some deaths.

There are so many other causes of death that can be prevented that aren't a pandemic and Dems/Reps just turn the other way if it doesn't fit their agenda. Headlines have shown several mass causes happening this very day and Dems aren't trying to take away peoples' freedoms because of them. In fact, in one cause of math deaths, Dems are SUPPORTING the very actions that allow it to make it into our country. It would just be very interesting to find out why this occurs, physiologically speaking. Why does one cause of mass deaths considered preventable (by Dems who think somehow a pandemic shouldn't result in any deaths but I'll go with it) become a national emergency like it's the destroyer of worlds but not others?

Humtake. You must be the stupidest poster on the retort. No one is saying the pandemic is a "destroyer of worlds" but you. Dems are pro science. They can understand nuance and can live with ambiguity. If protocols have changed over the course of the pandemic it's because our understanding of Covid has increased. Asking. People to mask up is not tyranny. Selfish -------- don't want to. I get that. But their selfish BS is not the same thing as freedom. It's just self centered childish willfulness being exploited by republicans to further their own ambitions on the votes for fools.

You fit the bill as fool.

Pandemics happen. During them, liberals try to save lives, and conservatives try to save money, or better yet find a way to get rich off of mass death by selling snake oil to other conservatives because they're gullible as hell.

Dems don't just try to prevent pandemic deaths. We also try to stop deaths from lack of healthcare. Of course repubs fight against this and advocate LESS healthcare so rich people can be richer. Then we also try to stop deaths from climate change. Of course conservatives would rather get rich from the destruction of the planet than to help anyone save it.

At every turn, dems are looking out for the future and trying to save lives. Repubs are fighting to kill more people and make more money.

My local newspaper carried an opinion piece by a grief counselor today. She had surgery some time ago and is immunocompromised. She has done everything she could do to avoid catching Covid, including masking, because masking shows respect for other people. She recently contracted Covid from a couple who not only hadn't been vaccinated, they also refused to wear masks when they visited her home. The woman is recovering, but the incident left her dismayed by some people's lack of respect for others.

As she put it, we all share in responsibility for the community in which we live. "Shared community responsibility is not oppression." I wish more people could look beyond themselves.

#15 Why did she open the door if she was so concerned about COVID and let her maskless guests inside HER home? Did she hurt herself even more by knowingly allowing those unvaccinated people in her home? Link the article, I want to read the whole story.

Gracie, I'm sure you can pick apart this lady's story. Dive right in. Tell us it's her fault.

But my point is that people should be more considerate of each other, whatever one's individual story is, especially during a pandemic that is putting all of us at risk. No matter how careless this woman might have been, the point remains that humility and compassion are in damn short supply among the anti-vaxx, anti-mask crowd.

Gracie is an -----. She was allowing her house to be shown and wasn't even there when the covidiots contaminated her home. More BS from Gracie, the masochist babbler about her blessings and gratitude. She's easily the most annoying and tiresome presence here. Even Bellringer is less stupid. Humtake gives her some competition tho'.

I'll bet Gracie blames rape victims too. After all, if they weren't women it wouldn't have happened.
