An interracial couple.

Look for a middle-aged white male and Trump supporter.

It could have been any number of Trump supporters.

I'm sure it was a hiking Crip or Blood gang member.

No, it was antifa or a BLM protester. I'm so confused.

Occams razor says it was a robbery, but y'all will milk it out as a politically motivated racist hit for as long as you can. Then the truth will come out and the story will fade into oblivion like it never happened. ill check back in next week.

When I saw the headline I jokingly said to myself: Watch Zed chime in and blame Trump...

Search the area for marijuana fields or a meth cook house.

If the police have any clues to motive, they are playing it close to the vest:

"Concord is one of the safest cities in the safest states," Concord Police Chief Bradley Osgood said.

There was just one homicide reported in Concord in 2020, and eight total killings from 2016 to 2020, according to statistics from the Concord Police Department.

"We have no specific information that would lead us to believe that the public in general is at any risk," Ward said. "That being said, be vigilant. Take your normal daily precautions. The Concord police will continue to be vigilant with patrols."

Odd thing to say, but in a town like that he doesn't get much practice. With suspect(s)at large, I would NEVER make a remark like that, as it imparts a false sense of security, and two dead bodies is "specific information" that there is a dangerous person at large.

Maybe there is evidence that it was a known suspect with a personal motive or a targeted "hit". (Still a dangerous person out there, but not preying on general public")

Maybe it's a murder/suicide

"Occams razor says it was a robbery"

Well, you are the cop, not me, but do most people wear/carry a lot of valuables when they go hiking in a wooded area near their home? I wouldn't think so. If it was a robbery/homicide, wouldn't the police have some indication of that already and announced it to the public by now? It seems in terms of public safety, that would be important info to get out to people in the area. Or maybe they don't want to reveal too much about the investigation early on?

One of the reports I read said the couple didn't own any guns and unless someone who found the bodies stole the gun, you'd think the police would have found it with the bodies.

"Maybe there is evidence that it was a known suspect with a personal motive or a targeted "hit". (Still a dangerous person out there, but not preying on general public")"

Could be.

Yes, it does seem to be a low crime area:

"This is a tragedy, and it's something that came out of nowhere, and we're doing our due diligence, investing all of our resources, working with our state and local partners, to bring this case to a successful resolution," Concord Police Chief Bradley Osgood said, according to NBC Boston, after the couple's bodies were found.

Neighbors also expressed their concerns about the couple's tragic and suspicious deaths.

"It's strange. This is a very peaceful neighborhood and they're talking about murder," Doug Ponusky, who lives nearby, told NBC Boston. "I never lock my doors. I think I'm gonna lock them tonight."

The police department has clearly stated:

The autopsies were conducted by Deputy Chief Medical Examiner Mitchell Weinberg. Dr. Weinberg has determined that the cause of Stephen Reid's death was multiple gunshot wounds, and that the manner of his death was homicide. Dr. Weinberg determined that the cause of Djeswende Reid's death was multiple gunshot wounds, and that the manner of her death was homicide.
So why are you, a cop, engaging in such reckless and fact-free speculation?

I want to correct something I said earlier. It's not a known fact that the couple didn't own any guns:

According to police, there is no known history of domestic violence for either person and neither are believed to own firearms.

I didn't catch it at first either, but it wasn't the police chief in the town who made that comment but the "senior assistant attorney general" who made that remark:

"Anyone who saw the Reids that Monday afternoon, anyone walking on those trails, anyone who has any information related to their disappearance or deaths are asked to contact the Concord Police Department," Senior Assistant Attorney General Geoffrey Ward said at a press conference Friday.

SomJoe, and Angry Dad, once again you want to make the thread about me. Do you have an actual opinion about the tip-off at and , or do you just want to use it as practice for your middle school insults?

Gal,
Multiple gunshots to both victims would seem to eliminate the likelihood of murder suicide. Back to robbery as most likely. Armed robbers don't require significant valuables. Most of the time, they are just looking for a little cash or some jewelry or phones they can pawn. Addicts don't look much past their next fix.

It could also be a targeted hit (former lover or business associate) but that is pretty rare.

Must have been a gun-free trail.

#23 Yes, that makes sense. Thanks for the clarification. Hopefully they will identify a suspect or suspects soon:

Wow, here's the sad thing. They wouldn't have gotten much:

A day before police sent out the missing couple notice, a family member sent out a Ring alert to users who live within a 3-mile radius of the area, along with a picture requesting assistance finding the couple.

"Parents haven't been seen or heard from since Monday," the alert stated. "They may have gone walking, no wallet or phone as far as we know (purse/wallet are still in the apartment) authorities have been notified. Please if anyone saw them walking or know anything please let us know."
