... Russian President Vladimir Putin had plans to take all of Ukraine ...

Not surprising to see that in the documents.

Pres Putin had been saying as much for years, i.e., that he wanted to destroy the sovereignty and existence of Ukraine because Ukraine and Russia are really one in his mind.

Article by Vladimir Putin "On the Historical Unity of Russians and Ukrainians" (July 2021)
web.archive.org

...During the recent Direct Line, when I was asked about Russian-Ukrainian relations, I said that Russians and Ukrainians were one people -- a single whole. These words were not driven by some short-term considerations or prompted by the current political context. It is what I have said on numerous occasions and what I firmly believe. I therefore feel it necessary to explain my position in detail and share my assessments of today's situation....

So says the fool on the hill. And you probably ought to worry about your own soul. Looks like you may have lost it somewhere along the way.

Day after day, alone on a hill
The man with the foolish grin
Is keeping perfectly still
But nobody wants to know him
They can see that he's just a fool
And he never gives an answer

But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning round

SITZ will be surprised . . . no, actually he'll be heartbroken. He fervently believes that the 2021 full scale attack on Ukraine was all part of the Grand Strategy (which none of us are smart enough to understand) and the real battle for the Baltic States is, as we speak, about to get underway.

On whose dime, I don't know. Supposedly, (according to economists) by the end of this month, Russia will have depleted their military reserves and be reduced to rations.

@#15 ... The attack is Strategy. The rush on Kiev was a tactic. ...

I look at it in a larger picture than just within the context of Ukraine, a larger picture that Pres Putin has spoke of over the years...

Reunifying and attaining the glory of the old USSR is the goal.

The strategy to meet that goal is to invade and annex the countries of the old USSR under the false pretext of fighting Nazis.

Invading Ukraine was a tactic in that strategy.

The rush on Kyiv was an operation within the tactic of invading Ukraine, a failed operation, but an operation nonetheless.

and most estimates still have it at the Russians trading 2 for 1. Having massive amounts of longer range artillery matters. Once the ground is dry enough to maneuver beyond the roads it won't be so easy to slaughter the BTGs.

That ship sailed. They can eventually occupy and depopulate the Southern coast though to turn what's left of Ukraine into a landlocked welfare state. That is still within their means for now.

It's about the Nazis dude. Get a clue. The southern coast is just gravy. They want to neutralize the threat. The Crimea corridor is important and Mariupol.

Also they want to show NATO how empty the promises are.

NATO caused war, it did not prevent it.

NATO is going to get us all nuked. Putin is getting unhinged.

Get him a rubber room. The problem is he's not alone.

There are loons on both sides and especially over here in the US and NATO leadership.

We need to shut this ---- down. Not feed it to make the US State Dept. Feel important. People's lives are not a game.

Especially when one side is brandishing their nukes.

It's time for a map drawing party. The Ukrainian's might cry a little but it's for their own growth, Bro.

"They can eventually occupy and depopulate the Southern coast though to turn what's left of Ukraine into a landlocked welfare state. "

I used to think so too.

And now everyone including and especially the Ukrainians know their evil plans.

They "can" do it but they won't be able to hold it. Not unless they can kill every single Ukrainian. And they definitely need to get to Zelinski. That guy is cooler now than even Putin without a shirt riding a horse.

With NATO at their backs supplying and supporting them the Ukrainians will fight even harder down to the last man to get their country back. Hell if I was younger I would go and help them myself!

You think the Russians can match that? The Russians are losing their morale and eventually the will to fight while Ukrainians only get more determined to fight harder and even to the last man.

This war is becoming more like Russia's Vietnam everyday.
