Trade restrictions and over-zealous FDA regulation are a big part of the problem, but there's more.

Ah the old republican passtime - sabotage government, then whine that government doesn't work well.

ftfa: under President Donald Trump, the U.S. entered into a new North American trade agreement that actively discourages formula imports from our largest trading partner, Canada.

Corporate greed, price gouging, profiteering.
Start hanging CEO's and executives by their man marbles and throw them in prison and see how long their current criminality lasts.

This is total and complete BS. Infant formula is a fake need emanating from some bizarro generational sense of entitlement.

Our species managed a long @$$ time w/o Infamil, Similac or whatevahhhhh.

My mother did not breastfeed me. No one did. Canned milk and Karo were what was on the menu and as I got older (a few weeks later) mushed up whatever everyone else was eating.

My kids got my milk or the same canned milk formula mom used on me. I just used the samples of infant formula samples they sent me home from the hospital once or twice in a pinch.

I always thought they smelled weird... blech.

Because mistakes were made we should definitely starve the brown babies. Because that will learn them to be born brown on the wrong side of the fence.

"Our species managed" by having lots of babies with lots of deaths. Want to go back to that?

Canned milk and corn syrup is not a sufficient replacement. It worked for you as a supplement to breast milk, not as a complete replacement for a birthing person who was unable to breastfeed at all.

I blame the Ghost-Monster. And his plan is working. I checked the formula isle to see if the rumors where true and it was 80% empty with "2 per customer" signs and what was left was canned powdered and some Simulac.

Lobbying by the dairy industry made importing formula from Canada or Europe impossible in Agent Orange's big trade pact. Another GOP win.

Only the most amazingly stupid or partisan could think blaming Trump is a good excuse.

The Trump admin is 100% responsible for the restrictions put in the "new" NAFTA that exacerbated this. You sound a bit clueless on that simple fact.

Who has had full authority over the federal governments regulatory powers for the last two years? What did Trump do exactly to prevent the importation of baby formula? Was it a tariff? That's pimple of a barrier.

I have to agree with the Republicans on this one, baby formula should be completely unregulated. Corporations should just be able to put that label on anything they wish, we know capitalists can be trusted.
