"Hours earlier on Thursday, the Jan. 6 select committee's chair, Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), and vice chair, Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), requested an interview with Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.) next week, contending that its review of evidence preceding the riot contradicted claims by him and other GOP lawmakers that no such tours had taken place."

If he's telling the truth now, he was lying back then. And why would he lie?

@#1 ... If he's telling the truth now, he was lying back then. And why would he lie? ...

Why do criminals lie?

Because they think they can get away with lying.

Unfortunately (or not?) for Rep Loudermilk there is video evidence of what occurred.

Jan. 6 committee seeks info from GOP Rep. Loudermilk over Capitol tour
www.axios.com

...The details: In a letter to Loudermilk, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), the chair of the panel, wrote that Loudermilk has information regarding "a tour you led through parts of the Capitol complex on January 5, 2021," citing a review of evidence in the committee's position.

- - - "Public reporting and witness accounts indicate some individuals and groups engaged in efforts to gather information about the layout of the U.S. Capitol, as well as the House and Senate office buildings, in advance of January 6," Thompson continued

- - - Thompson also claimed the panel has evidence that "directly contradicts" claims by Republicans on the House Administration Committee, of which Loudermilk is a member, that a review of footage determined there were "no tours, no large groups, no one with MAGA hats on" leading up to Jan. 6.

The other side: "A constituent family with young children meeting with their Member of Congress in the House Office Buildings is not a suspicious group or 'reconnaissance tour,'" Loudermilk and Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.), the top Republican on the House Administration Committee, said in a statement.

- - - They said the family never entered the building, accusing the Jan. 6 committee of "pushing a verifiably false narrative" and calling on the Capitol Police to "release the tapes."

- - - They also highlighted an ethics complaint they filed last May against Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-N.J.) and other House Democrats who made the allegations....

This will be interesting to watch.

Get the popcorn...

Sounds like Loudermilk is cowering at having to face udder consequences.

Next up Sporkfoot and HoneyBoBo....they absolutely aided the terrorists.

Loudermilk is your basic MAGAt creep, one who made his way onto the floor of the House in 2019 to compare TFG's impeachment to the appearance of Jesus before Pontius Pilate (a bit of moronic political theater with which Politifact had a field day: www.politifact.com).

Got to give the 1/6 committee kudos for the way they nailed this charlatan as a liar in their invitation letter.

YET!

Now that they've on video touring the Capitol, I'm sure LEO will be looking into their whereabouts quite closely that day.

However, at this point anyone denying it was a coup is a supporter of a GOP coup, just too ----------- to admit it.

There's no doubt at this point it was a systemic attempt by one of the major political parties to seize power illegally.

Which makes all the assumptions about disabled panic buttons, known locations of secret offices and materials ect likely very very correct.

Loudmouth must realize by now that he has been placed in a trap of his own making. The committee knows who came into the building and when, who showed them around and where they went. Barry must think that the cameras don't work, stuff isn't written down and that no one who knows about these recon tours hasn't talked--under oath--to the committee.

Like MGT Barry will try to repeat the lie 'I don't recall' umpteen times, and then he will be presented with the facts. He will then end up in some Club Fed, wearing beige from head to toe and thinking he is some sort of political prisoner, when all he will be is a convicted felon...

When my wife and I visited DC 8 years ago, we contacted the office of our Rep weeks in advance and were able to take a tour of the capitol building. It's something our rep's staff was quite prepared for and we didn't know our rep personally in any way.

Does the committee or FBI have any proof that the family that took the tour participated in the breach on 1/6? If that family didn't enter the grounds on 1/6 then I don't see how Loudermilk (great name!) can be implicated in anything.

If anything, this reeks of desperation.

Then why did he originally lie about it?

Yes it reeks.

While the democrats may be desperate to save our democracy, republicans were and still are apparently desperate to overthrow it and seize control by force.

#10 - Reading comprehension not your thing huh??? "The presence of unknown visitors would have been particularly notable at the time because the Capitol complex was closed to public tours as a result of the coronavirus pandemic."

So tours were NOT being given by congressmen because of CVOID. Your IQ matches the Orange Child Rapists - 45!

And rightwingers on this site still try to maintain this was not an intended coup???
