The Associated Press say the police used their negotiation training to get the white man suspected of killing 10 black people at a Buffalo supermarket to put down his weapons an surrender. "In a country where Black people have been killed in encounters with police over minor traffic infractions, or no infractions at all, though, it's raised the question: Where is that training, that determined following of protocol, when it comes to them?"

...Yet officers talked to Payton Gendron, convinced him to put down his weapon and arrested him without firing a single shot. Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia that day cited their training and called it "a tremendous act of bravery."

In a country where Black people have been killed in encounters with police over minor traffic infractions, or no infractions at all, though, it's raised the question: Where is that training, that determined following of protocol, when it comes to them?

"It's important to emphasize this is not about why aren't police killing white supremacist terrorists," said Qasim Rashid, a human rights lawyer and satellite radio host who was among those on social media making posts about the subject. "It's why can't that same restraint and control be applied to a situation involving an unarmed Black person?"...

The fact that their training allowed them to enter that situation without firing at the first thing that moved belies their "I feared for my life" defense every time they rough somebody up or kill them.

If ever there was a time to fear for your life it's when you know there's an armed, armored shooter killing people. Going in guns blzzing would have been an appropriate response in this case.

"He had the barrel against his neck."

Oh, well that explains it.

If the police acted rashly, it might have resulted in the death of a white person.

If he was Black, they would have shot him anyway 50 or 60 times, lied that he had the gun barrel pointed at them, and then planted a few more guns and some drugs on him as well.

And how do we know this? Because that's literally what they've done.
