Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, May 25, 2022

In a stunning moment on Wednesday, former Rep. Beto O'Rourke (D-Texas) confronted Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) over gun control policy at a press conference where officials were giving updates on the mass shooting at an Uvalde elementary school. "This is on you," O'Rourke said. "Until you choose to do something different, this will continue to happen. Somebody needs to stand up for the children of this state or they will continue to be killed just like they were killed in Uvalde yesterday."

As Abbott finished his remarks and introduced Patrick, O'Rourke approached the stage to interrupt. His initial remarks were drowned out by crosstalk from different attendees - some cheering him and many others jeering.

"You're doing nothing. You're all doing nothing," O'Rourke told the officials assembled on the stage.

Outside the venue, O'Rourke continued his call for stronger gun control measures and better access to mental health care.

"Now is the time to stop the next shooting," he said. "Right after Santa Fe High School was the time to stop the next shooting. Right after El Paso was the time to stop the next shooting. Right after Midland-Odessa was the time to stop the next shooting."

"In each case, we say, This isn't the time,'" he said. "Now is the time."

Unfortunately for Beto, Republicans don't care what the price of easy access to weapons has on society.

Republicans have been conditioned to believe owning guns is what makes them better than democrats. So they're buying in bulk.

Robert Francis O'Roark will never be the governor of Texas nor hold any state wide office.

He could have held his own press conference but he chose to put the light on himself.

as to his criminal history, here are the facts so this statement is fact....

Figures a burglar wouldn't want people to have guns.

#6 | Posted by LEGALLYDORKY

"The first incident occurred at the University of Texas at El Paso on May 19, 1995. A police report describes the matter as "attempted forcible entry" and "attempted burglary," and says O'Rourke and two friends entered a facilities plant and triggered an intrusion alarm.

Records obtained and published by the Texas Tribune and Houston Chronicle also show O'Rourke was arrested on Sept. 27, 1998, in Anthony, Texas, after he lost control of his car, struck a truck traveling in the same direction, and then crossed the median into a lane for incoming traffic.

O'Rourke failed a subsequent breathalyzer test, according to the incident report, and was charged with DWI " which records list as a misdemeanor, not a felony. The police report also says O'Rourke tried to flee the scene. O'Rourke has denied that detail, but the officers involved have said they stand by their report.

O'Rourke is right. It's on Abbott and his ilk.

Abbott talked about a 'mental health crisis' weeks after he slashed $210,000,000 from Texas' mental health funding. He's advocated for and signed multiple laws that help shooters. No permit conceal carry, and on and on and on.

Banning books but not a single law to keep Texans safer from gun violence.

Strange, that the same folks who called having kids wear masks during a pandemic is 'child abuse,' but not active shooter drills. That 'pro-life' morons support unrestricted gun ownership and the death penalty.
