Placing operatives as poll workers and building a "hotline" to friendly attorneys are among the strategies to be deployed in Michigan and other swing states.

There appears to be no length to which rwingers won't go to subvert democratic elections.

But then, they don't believe in democracy anyway, just in authoritarian republics.

Perhaps they have become convinced that they are too stupid to be given the right to decide matters via a democratic vote.

Perhaps, in their particular cases, they are correct.

The fact that they think they need to do this, along with gerrymandering and voter suppression, shows that it's the only way they can win.

So Lee, glad to know that you are one of those that think Blacks are too stupid to get an ID and are too Lazy to go an extra block to vote. I remember you whining about the new voter laws in Georgia, how about that record turnout during the primaries?

- Go read a book.

It might have to be in Braille.

- They are there to make sure the Dems don't cheat.

According to every reliable source, the DOJ, the AG, the DHS... 60+ Courts who reviewed the "evidence" of cheating your hero Donald presented... there was no cheating that would have changed the outcome of the election.

Homeland Sec even called it the, "cleanest election in decades".

"Trump's own officials say 2020 was America's most secure election in history
Homeland Security put out a statement with state and local officials that countered the president's fraud claims."

www.vox.com

But hey, cheaters will always be suspicious that the other side must be cheating, too.

#12 | POSTED BY WHATSLEFT

That's really the only question that matters anymore. And with each passing day, the answer becomes more and more obvious.

The Republican Party is a lost cause; I write them off as pure scum with no hope or redeeming qualities. The only issue is what Democrats are going to do about that. And yet they still talk about "reaching across the aisle" and "bipartisan solutions" with the party that calls them pedo groomers.

" How can they vote in huge numbers?? I thought they were suppressed?"

Ah, one of the Suppressionists central lies: If we suppress 10,000 votes, and folks get wind of our shenanigans and 11,000 extra turn out due to disgust with our tactics...that means we didn't suppress those 10,000 voters!. They want to pretend suppressing a vote, and suppressing a voter are the same thing.

The other central lie? It defies logic: An additional barrier to voting won't be an additional barrier to voting.

In all honesty, this does not sound like people who trust democracy to work.

Now, I understand the value of having partisan observers at a polling place who are not allowed to intervene in any way, but who can observe and if they see something, they can raise it with election officials. However, once you start to co-opt the actual poll workers themselves, people who CAN make it difficult for people trying to vote, and who have lawyers on speed-dial, that feels like someone has crossed a line.

Democrats have won the popular vote in 5 of the last 6 presidential elections, and 5 of the current SCOTUS picks were chosen by Republican presidents who did not win the popular vote in at least 1 election...so yeah, you might say there's not a ton of confidence in institutional norms...

As a judge of elections, I have this one Republican woman who works my table as minority inspector. I constantly have to interrupt as she sends people away if everything isn't 100% perfect. I always make sure they at least get to fill out a provisional ballot but she is happy to send them on their way.

#44 | POSTED BY TFDNIHILIST

I'm sure that's the point of this.

Convince enough Dem voters to walk away by making a stink over minor details that may or may not be disqualifying to begin with. By the time the person knows they've been mislead it's too late to do anything about it and there likely isn't a legal remedy to fix it or punish the judge who essentially suppressed people's right to vote.

The sick, twisted minds n the GQP BELIEVE Gawd is on their side, that Dotard is Gawd's chosen candidate, which means that any election where they don't win is blasphemous. The hard core MAGAts now believe most of the QAnon BS about Dems eating babies etc, and they see no issue cheating so that Gawd's chosen party wins. In their simple minds, NO Dem win is legitimate and must be the product of fraud.

Hmmmm...so what's worse...being recorded saying a party will contest elections OR being ON RECORD as a Dem (and several major Dem powers at that) calling for all kinds of contested actions even BEFORE the elections occurred?

It's funny how easy people forget what their own party does when it doesn't make them look good.

I just heard a story where a guy's wife was challenged by a poll worker for being dressed in a manner which promoted a political view-point. Her 'crime' was that she was wearing a multi-strand of pearls which the poll worker insisted looked like the neck pieces worn by the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburga and therefore she was promoting a Left-wing point of view and they made her take the pearls off before she was allowed to vote. I mean if it were a BLM T-shirt or a MAGA hat, I might agree that that was pushing the limits, but a string of pearls? Next thing you know, some overweight guy in an ill-fitting navy blue suit with a really long red necktie will be accused of promoting a pro-Right point of view...
