Why do some people believe conspiracy theories? It's not just who or what they know. It's a matter of intellectual character.

"Now let's flesh out Oliver's story a little: suppose it turns out that he believes lots of other conspiracy theories apart from the one about 9/11. He believes the Moon landings were faked, that Diana, Princess of Wales, was murdered by MI6, and that the Ebola virus is an escaped bioweapon.

Those who know him well say that he is easily duped, and you have independent evidence that he is careless in his thinking, with little understanding of the difference between genuine evidence and unsubstantiated speculation.

Suddenly it all begins to make sense, but only because the focus has shifted from Oliver's reasons to his character. You can now see his views about 9/11 in the context of his intellectual conduct generally, and this opens up the possibility of a different and deeper explanation of his belief than the one he gives: he thinks that 9/11 was an inside job because he is gullible in a certain way. He has what social psychologists call a conspiracy mentality'."

Really good psych article.

People who believe the Big Lie also believe that JFK will show up at a rally on their side eventually, that Ukraine is knee deep in Nazis, and that Demonrats are pedophilic child cannibals... or something.

that Ukraine is knee deep in Nazis

Leave Bernie out of this. :-)

lmao... yeah, according to some, Bernie is Hitler, Stalin, and Mao (who are all the same) rolled into one.

Speaking of bad thinking.

I'd love to see the attack ads the RNC had lined up if Bernie was the nominee in '16. Can you imagine?

Running the guy who lost the more liberal party nomination in a landslide, as much as I love him, in a much more moderate to conservative general election and expecting a win is more bad thinking,

I just want to see the crazy haired Bernie with a Pol Pot background posters they had lined up.

Obviously Bernie lost the primary because the election was rigged.... of course, Lil' Donnie sure took that conspiracy theory and ran with it!

Had to be much better than Hillary's "Bernie is a single issue candidate" ... What a disaster she was, letting Trump win because she felt entitled to the position. She even got the GOP candidate she wanted... FFS quit defending her..

Obviously Bernie lost the primary because the election was rigged....

Well it was ... Donna Brazille was right .. according to her book Barack Obama had left the DNC $24 million in debt after the 2012 election and was paying it off, but too slowly because of his "neglect" of fundraising. Meantime, DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz wasn't doing great at raising money either and was overspending.

"As Hillary's campaign gained momentum, she resolved the party's debt and put it on a starvation diet. It had become dependent on her campaign for survival, for which she expected to wield control of its operations."

Bernie is the only honest soul in the DNC Elite.

I think you have to be a party member to be in the DNC.

"Obviously Bernie lost the primary because the election was rigged" It was. The media picked Hilary. There was news of her electors before people even voted. Would you vote for the guy that the TV says is losing?

Tips to having good logic: Check multiple sources. Assume nobody is 100% correct (if they sell that they are that is a sign of deception). Avoid herd thinking- no political party will make you more correct. Learn to be wrong and to grow from failure. Anger is a drug for the mind and many news outlets are the dealers.

Bernie Sanders message was clear. He was fighting for us.

Hillary's message was clear. I'm with Her.

Arrogance personified.

Clinton got more votes and won more primaries than Sanders, and thus the nomination

Funny thread.

An attempt to rub ---- in the face of righties who post here and it took a whole 3 posts to turn it into another bickering whinefest about Bernie Sanders.

Heck even today some yahoo here will claim Trump stole the 2016 election, implying the "Russians" gave it to him.

The russians helped colluded with him. Which gave russia power over him.

How come you're not pretending to be an "open borders liberal" today?

My Resume...

Didn't vote for Trump, Hillary, O'Bama, or Romney...

Wouldn't have voted for Sanders, and was afraid if he was the nominee that he'd win.

I still think Bernie was screwed over by the DNC. Does this make me a Bernie Bro?

If stupid sanders have been nominated in 2016 the Republican party wouldn't have even needed to run ads they would have enjoyed a cakewalk in every swing state.

- It was. The media picked Hilary.

That sounds just like Trump saying the year before the election that if he lost, it could ONLY be because the election was rigged... by the, "lamestream media".

I would like to again personally thank the minority of BBros who gave impetus to the most recent, "The Election Was Rigged" hysteria meme. I thank you, Trump thanks you....

He certainly took that stupid meme and ran with it.

I mean, seriously; Bernie's primary loss was by a landslide which must be kinda difficult to "rig".

Now he's supporting Biden and, yet again, those who say they support him the mostest! don't listen to a word he says.

And that reasoning resulted in the single most corrupt, lazy and criminal president in history.

The choices were not good.

Most Trump supporters are intellectually challenged; they can't be helped. Those that aren't have an agenda to protect their privilege. That privilege is threatened by marginalized people becoming mainstream. IOW: they fear being replaced.

"Most Trump supporters are intellectually challenged; they can't be helped."

They don't know that.
They think Trump helped them.
Here is an example:

I'm trying to figure out how it was worse with Trump. Trump never had to warn us of the coming food shortages. Energy prices were stable. Stock market did well. Russia was inside their broders. China wasn't sending threats.
