The WikiLeaks founder can appeal the order, a move that would extend the years long legal battle he has been waging to avoid being sent to the U.S. to face trial.

Is Mr Assange a hero, or a traitor?

I don't think it is binary.

Yes, he surfaced much information that was not meant to be surfaced, and he may have been used by some entities with not the best of purpose.

But in doing so, he did a public service.

For me, in order to consider him a hero, he should stand up and face the consequences of what he did.

Running away to hide from legal responsibility is not a trait of someone I would consider to be a hero. (fwiw, that is also my opinion of Mr Snowden, heroes do not run and hide.)

Simply stated...

Heroes Do Not Run.

Anyone that can't understand the difference between "whistleblowing" and "assisting & coercing a federal employee to hack a federal database" is, frankly, an idiot.

Anyone that paid attention to Wikileaks over it's life (which should be most long-term Drudge readers) saw it devolve from an anarchical leak website to a politically motivated "blog". From an open resource for leaked information to a catered release of politically damaging semi-truths.
